Communist party lapdogs in the west, money well spent. Let the British be thankful to the trillions of dollars siphoned from India as a colonial oppressor. F’in racist pig, can’t tolerate that Indian Economy (nominal GDP) is bigger than their brexited ass.

Don't think this was racist but definitely intentional. Its part of their divide and conquer. One guy will lambast India and another will say how racist this guy is. Both are working for the same team. One guy will say China is doing jackshit while the other one will say China is doing an increadible job. Don't mind them and you've won the game already. Most people are emotional and react with cries of racism or prejudice. Think while putting emotions aside. More and more I think of it, this is probably a virus created in some lab in a western country and pushed it towards China. Just like India, China is also corrupt. After all was it not Elizabeth's husband who said that if he wanted to reincarnate, he would come back as a virus to eliminate 90% of the population. And who named it corona. Doesnt sound very chinese to me. Its a western name. Can't rule out western game being played on China and the rest of the world.

There is some truth to what he is saying. People in India are notoriously bad when it comes to public hygiene. In most Indian cities, you will find people urinating on the side of the streets, throwing garbage and spitting anywhere they like, sewers will be overflowing with drainage water and there are lots of slums with dismal hygiene. Outside of cities, lots of people in villages dont even use toilets.

Also many people in India dont choose to go to hospitals when they get sick and would rather go about their work or school and potentially infect lots of other people.  In such conditions, spread of diseases will be more. Also, Indian hospitals are vastly under staffed and under prepared to deal with an epidemic like how it happened in China.

Despite the spread of Coronovirus in China, I cant see any government in India matching Chinese in terms of how they tried to tackle the spread of the disease. This is just going by how inept and inefficient the Indian government is in general compared to China.

Only thing that could save India is the fact that most people are isolated from foreigners and there is less risk of getting infected by them. Also, some reports suggest that the spread of the virus will be lesser in warmer climates but this has not been confirmed yet.

I know and have seen their type. It is not in what he said, but the mindset, thinking these coolies, they are always subservient. It is like that dialogue in Lagaan., “Tum jaise log, hamare paon ke jutti ke neeche rahega?” types. Some of the upper class snotty Indians, NRIs, PIOs also think like this. They agree with OP because Indians are good for nothing. They will be advising the whites about how bad India is. Don’t know where to begin to respond to some of the responses here. Just check the facts and respond.

This british guy is there to create some masala in the news. I also agree that there are snotty Indians, NRIs, etc. I don't like how they project India to western people. One of my friends came to the US after me (I'm settled in India now). He is showing signs of the snotty NRI stereotype. I give him a taste of his own medicine and he usually shuts up . He once said when is summer in Chennai. I told him you have been here for a good 25 years and you don't know when summer is. For those who don't know its always summer in Chennai :(( He told me he forgot. I told him don't forget your name.

But you have to understand their frustration in the homeland which got them to their current residence. There are plenty of things that don't go according to plan in India. Like for example the swachch bharat scheme. We are still in progress in the civic sense department. Even SL and Ban are ahead of us. SL and Ban has huge population just like India and Ban is even denser but their countries are comparatively cleaner with SL the cleanliest. You have to accept the truth for what it is. Otherwise we won't make any progress. We also need to put in the work to make a change but first we have to understand ground realities. I have been on both sides of the coin.

I have also seen NRIs who boast big about India to others. I tell them if its such a wonderful place, why are you here then . I do this only when we are surrounded by Indians lest westerners hear us bitching and moaning. First they become silent then comes the accusation that I'm such a bad guy or that I've changed after coming to the US. I tell them that this question may arise when talking to a westerner and the loudmouth NRI will have egg on his face :egg:. Also, India is well known to the internet generation. So we don't live in an era where people didn't know jackshit about us. If at all, I tend to focus on our ancient history to westerners and if pressed, will say our current challenges. I usually tell it like it is but in a matter of fact way.

one thing i hate about indians online is how self-obsessed they are. they believe EVERYTHING is about them. the whole world revolves around them. whenever india or anything related to india is mentioned, its a direct attack on them.

sorry, but its not always about you. o'neill's statement acknowledged the effectiveness of authoritarian governance. he was talking about china, not india... and he's right. india doesn't have authoritarian governance, its impossible for india to even attempt what china did - such as large-scale shutdowns of entire cities.

please remember that people of each country have a sense of 'exceptionalism', in other words, they think their country or their government is 'better' in some way or another. if indians have a positive image about their own country in relation to others, surely westerners shouldn't be resented for feeling the same way?

Don’t make it cultural thing. The OP was about misplaced praise, in spite of authoritarian governance, there is nothing to praise them with large scale spread of the virus. They deserve to be shamed for their eating habits, clamping down facts and disappearances of whistle-blowers. Instead, the snot wants to put down India. I am not of those NRIs to pop up Or put down India for no reason. Let’s debate on facts to compare . First of all, as a think tank, this is not the time to compare and put countries down He gets to  be :bumsmack:for that.

As many Indians have told me over the internet That everything originated from India and everyone is Indian, many tried to convince me That I am Indian, this is beyond ridiculous.

You mean in terms of how we prepare food or the way we eat ? A large population still eats rice with hand which isn't advisable these days.

Eating with hands is not a problem as long as you live in a healthy surrounding.

Even after that, how many pandemics have emerged from India till now?

I see no difference between a Pashtun from Bihar and Jalalabad.

@coffee_rules my understanding/interpretation  based on things I have read is India didn’t usually have pandemics historically because we started urbanizing And living in urban colonies  a long time before the Europeans who mostly lived on farms and in close proximity with animals which is the result for  most modern diseases originating there . In fact I think swine/pigs are a major host for a lot of diseases due to which pig is not considered as Kosher in a lot of cultures.

However once they urbanized they have kept most diseases under check.

On the other hand a city like Surat or a state like Kerala which is pretty prosperous have no business in being responsible for such pandemics. These are self inflicted.

I know I am over analyzing this statement which comes from a place of bigotry and racism rather than a well thought out statement but we cannot deny that things can get out of hand in india in a chaos like situation.

Most of the india still lives in villages with livestocks in their homes.
