Gollum Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 LINK Balance, skill, temperament: Sunil Gavaskar calls Virat Kohli’s Test team ‘India’s best-ever’ Austin 3:!6 and Real McCoy 2
Gollum Posted August 23, 2020 Author Posted August 23, 2020 'Best ever in SC conditions' would have been believable. PR team has reached Sunny now?
Gollum Posted August 23, 2020 Author Posted August 23, 2020 0-2 in NZ, no semblance of fight 1-4 in Eng 1-2 in RSA However if we draw this Aussie side in their backyard, that will be a sign of recovery. If we beat them it will go down as India's greatest cricket accomplishment of all time.
Gollum Posted August 23, 2020 Author Posted August 23, 2020 (edited) Aim is to be the cricket equivalent of Nadal. Invincible on familiar turf, and occasional success elsewhere. Nadal faced 1st week exit at Wimbledon from 2012-17....now set to pass Federer's numbers and lay claim to GOAT title with 66% of his career success coming on one surface, in a 3 month period in the calendar year. We can be a great side even without doing as well as ATG WI/Aus/RSA teams overseas. Just have a run similar to 2007-10 Indian team in SENA and we are back in business. That Fab 4 team was lucky in a way that it faced the weakest Kiwi side in the last 50 years, and a relatively weak English side. Kohli's team will be lucky that it will face the weakest RSA side of all time and a beatable English side. All hope is not lost....yet. Just avoid whitewashes and 1-4, 1-3 scorelines we became so used to in the 2010s....next cycle 2 series wins in SENA, 1 fighting draw, 1 fighting loss, enough. Tibarn Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 The debate is between Dhoni's #1 team and Kohli's #1 team. Dhoni's team has 2 ATG batsmen, Dravid and Sachin, and a more well rounded batting unit, with VVS and Dhoni himself as a true keeper-batsman, as well as good openers Sehwag, and Gambhir. Kohli's team is lacking in quality/established batting, the only other established players are Pujara and Rahane. The openers, number 6 position, and the wicket-keeper are all positions which are constantly in flux. However, bowling wise it isn't really close. Ashwin/Jadeja/Bumrah/Shami/Ishant/BK/Umesh as a unit are both deeper and more talented by miles than Dhoni's team. I'm not sure which one is better.

If you are considering b/w those two teams - at home, they are both good but away Kohli's team is more fun to watch esp. for bowling. In the last 2 years, Pujara hit 4 memorable 100s, Kohli has some good knocks too, and so on. In SENA, the current team won for the first time in Aus, one of the best series that I have seen. raki05 Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 Bloddy they got humiliated in sa, eng ,NZ and won against hapless aus and they are best ever. What about the team which won in eng and NZ and drew in sa and aus. nevada 1

But Bumrah would be my sole choice for the first pacer's slot. Bumrah Srinath / Shami Kapil would be my 3 pronged pace attack. zen and Mosher 1 1

Lone Wolf Posted August 24, 2020 Posted August 24, 2020 Someone show him the clips of recent NZ tour. Even in 2014 we were so close to win two tests there. This time there was no fight. Our ex cricketers have no balls to stand up to BCCI. Too much politics at play here. Suhaan 1

Dhoni is the worst test captain india ever had .Elo ratings took a big dive during his tenure.
