Original OP:

Continuing with the tradition of nominating your pick for the most worthless player of IPL, this is the thread for the 2020 edition.

Here are winners from prior years.

2019: Yusuf Pathan

2018: Glen Maxwell

2017: Shane Watson

2016: David Miller

2015: Yuvraj Singh

2014: Chris Gayle

2013: Kumara Sangakkara

2012: Yusuf Pathan

*REMEMBER*

The most worthless player is a player who is earning big bucks, but performing miserably poorly. The more the bucks and the poorer the performance, the more worthless they are.

P.S. If you think that I missed someone, let me know and I will evaluate and determine if we need to add them to the poll.

kuldeep yadav shld be there..

he is so bad that some random nobody foreign player was picked ahead of him by :kkr:

I did consider adding him here, but his ER in the matches that he played was not that bad. He did not get too many matches to play to prove one way or the other. There are many others listed here who were much worse.

Worst player is different from the player with the worst RoI!

Worst Player: Finch. Never seen a player as uninterested in scoring fast.

Worst RoI: Unadkat, who surprisingly isn't in your poll.

Dhoni is not the worst by any stretch. Keeping, captaincy etc are all intangible assets that the brings to his side.

Unadkat's salary decreased significantly this year and he is no longer a top earner. Hence, he is not in the list.

Dhoni is #2 highest paid IPL player even now. Captaincy is only good if you are winning. If you lose and still keep making same mistakes, then it should actually count as negative points since you are not capable of even picking the best team out of your options or make any sound decisions. He kept Gaikwad out for so long, and Gaikwad proved how useful he was when he got the chance, but alas it was too late.

Keeping in T20s does not qualify anyone for top money. It is his batting that was required and he failed miserably. On many occasions, he did not even bother to show up to bat when match was alive and on others when he did, he effectively killed the match with his slow batting.

Maxi and Jadhav both tied for the top place. I voted for Jadhav. As much as I despise Maxi's inept IPL display, he at-least turns his arm over to open the bowling and is an amazing fielder. Jadhav is a hopeless plodder who has to be hidden on the bench to cover up his inabilty to score, and his side spin is a thing of the past. With Maxi, there is a hope that maybe today is the day he will play big shots. With Jadhav, you can rest assured he is going to do diddly squat.

Maxwell, Jadhav, Dhoni but since Maxwell came in after playing cricket recently it has to be him

He will probably go away on another mental illness break and come back just in time to stink up the next IPL.

Well summed up. It was forgettable tournament from MSD.

Uthappa -> RR had to adjust its batting order for him, ran out other batsmen at crucial juncture, ran himself out too, dropped key catches, distracted other fielders when they were taking their catches, ....

Uthappa is another player who had a significant drop in his salary this year and hence he does not make it to this list as he is not a top earner.
