Popular Post jf1gp_1 Posted December 4, 2020 Popular Post Posted December 4, 2020 Not sure how many watched post match show, kaif started with questioning selection but Viru just went after kohli. He questioned logic behind playing XI, how he doesnt back players despite him being backed after his england tour and ended with 'everyone has to give up their number or dropped or make adjustments but he never applies the same rules on himself. He was furious. Mosher, nevada, tweaker and 8 others 1 10
putrevus Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Is Viru an idiot, Kohli was the already best batsman in the team before England tour, So what the hell is he talking about him being backed after that tour. Any batsman can have bad tour, you don't drop your best player after a bad tour. Kohli was infact dropped after his WI series before 2011 England tour. The only cricketers as far as I remember were not dropped due to performance were Sachin ,Kapil , Sunil and Vishy. express bowling, VT87, nevada and 4 others 5 2
Forward Defence Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Haven't seen the post match show but this is good news. Whatever Viru says seems to backfire on him. He has been targeting opponent teams/players previously and we have had to eat humble pie immediately afterwards. Good change in strategy this and I hope Kohli starts bossing things again. sandeep, tweaker, nevada and 2 others 5

Iyer was just an example, it was about Mayank, then Gill came for one game who could have been continued in t20, then bowlers. I think it was in totality, cant remember if it was Viru or Kaif who said which player in current team can say Virat made him or which player will be Virats legacy. Rahane & Pujara were in Top form before 2014 tour I remember & were bigger Test batsmen at that time. India has a wealth of budding batting talents. In 5 years of Virat's captaincy, not one young batsman has 'made' it as a national team regular. Guys like KL Rahul are only still around if they can keep wickets etc. Not one young batsman. beetle, Vk1, raki05 and 3 others 1 5
Ankit_sharma03 Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 viru is on point if u beilieve in a player then u cant give him 3 games
SK_IH Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Virat dropping Chahal from the T20 side just betrays his dumbness as captain. T20 is one format where Chahal is one of India's better bowlers. He relies on batsmen's mistake & keeps it tight. beetle, raki05 and Vk1 3

So, Kohli was still the top overall batsmen, you don't drop your best overall batsmen after one bad series. he already had scored 100s in SA and NZ. The fact is Kohli was awful against WI in 2011 test series and was promptly dropped from England tour in 2011.So I don't know what the hell is Viru talking about.
putrevus Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 (edited) If Kohli and Shastri did not believe in young talent, they would not have given Rahul so many chances to stink in test cricket and Pandya in test cricket when he was clearly hurting the team. Edited December 4, 2020 by putrevus

That is not right. Kohli took over the captaincy in 2014 in tests and 2017 in odis. It is not his fault if the batsmen cannot nail down their spot. Kohli emerged in 2008 , Rohit in 2007. What great batsmen have emerged from the system since then. Which great batsman or talent has been left out. Kohli is last all format player to have emerged in 2008 . Ankit_sharma03 Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Kohli n shastri believes in young talent Iyer dropped after 3 games KL once dropped after 3 odi , then 1 ODI Mayank after 2 odi Gill after 2 odi Shaw after 3 Backing 10-15 match ki hoti hai, yaha to chillar batt raha hai Mosher and RAZPOR 2
Suhaan Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Joke of a Kaptaan got full support from Dhoni,Rohit started to make his mark under Dhoni And some one says 2-3 matches are enough for a newcomer to prove his point At this rate Joker,Rohit,Dhawan should continue till 2050 as no one would be getting substantial opportunities Mosher, sandeep, beetle and 2 others 1 4

If the "young lads" are not able to "grab" the "opportunities" then clearly its their fault. Btw, here's my new clothing line and new fragrance spray - check it out!! Bowlers have met the same fate too. The core bowling unit of Bumrah, Shami, Ishant, Bhuvi, Jaddu and Ashwin were already there when Kolhli started off as captain. Chahal is perhaps the only bowler who has settled down under him. I think the main issue is that Kohli is not that good at identifying new international quality talent, and he knows it. Which is why he becomes unsure about a player's ability the moment a newish player starts failing. And he lacks mentoring ability as a leader too. One player that needs backing to the hilt is Shubman Gill. He has serious potential to be an all condition batsman in tests and ODIs. And I would try to find one or two new all condition pacers like Bumrah and Shami. ( Special mentoring of Prasidh, Mavi and Tyagi is needed for this pupose ). And we need to find one all format wrist spinner who can turn the ball both ways. Backing these players through thick and thin would achieve a lot. RAZPOR, Mosher and sorak 3

Even before he became permanent captain, Kohli has been slavishly loyal to the concept of "seniority". He doesn't care about the future etc. Recall a Zimbabwe 5 match ODI series which was a glorified 'A' tour, in 2014 or so, where India were up 3-0 and still he played Jadeja all 5 games and didn't give a match debut to Parvez Rasool. When asked, he said if my senior player is fit and available, I will select him first 100/100 times that's what I believe. India ended up winning 5-0.
