Who should be Ind's 3rd pacer for Adelaide Test?

Its between Umesh and Siraj, they have 2 practice games ,whoever performs better will get a chance.

Siraj I think.  Need a bowler who has a good outswinger with the Pink ball.  Saini can come in later games.  No Umesh

Don't think that will ever happen. Our lower order is poor as it is and taking jaddu out means we go from 200/6 to 215/10

he will go with his stinking logic of prioritising experience,so calm down he will 100%go with Umesh and loose the day nighter inside 4 days

Agree Saini hasn't suggested any reason to play him by his odi failure,but Umesh is a tried and tested failure in these conditions,no matter how does he performs in practice games

I have not followed any pink ball test live so do not know for how long the ball swings. Having watched highlights, NZ used Wagner relatively well:

During the India Bangladesh pink ball test, the Indian fast bowlers, Shami, Umesh and Ishant, kept bowling quick and short and bounced out lots of batters after softening them up by dealing blows to the head and body. 

 

Pink ball tests are not just about moving the ball. The ball moves only during specific and short periods but quick short bowling works for a longer time.

 

And my pick is Saini for this reason too.

While Umesh is a tested failure, its just a toss up between Siraj and Saini. There can only be a gut feeling in choosing either of them. Saini has had a torrid time in Australia, but the test format is different. However, Saini hasnt bowled at his quickest. The novelty of pace is a mystery, will Saini bowl fast or is he going to stick to 145ish at his quickest?

Siraj may have a point to prove owing to his dad's demise. Siraj is equipped to move the bowl at just enough decent pace. 

Its 51% Siraj and 49% Saini for me!

It would seem so. Umesh has a tendency of being hot and cold. If in the team, Virat needs to ensure Umesh gives the same effort when it matters. To be perfectly honest, there's no guarantee either of the 3 would perform.

Can't make a decision becuase they are all unproven in foreign conditions. I guess definitely not Umesh he has been given a lot of chances. Try one of Saini or Siraj. Siraj bowled some peaches unlucky not to get the wicket of leftie Maddison. THat was something to behold. It took the inside edge to the keeper but given not out. Whenever some bowler brings the ball into the left hander, it means he is bowling well. If going by this warmup game, I would put Siraj ahead. Could be handy with the pink ball. He also ran out another batter with a direct hit.

Siraj bowled well in the first half of the day when the surface offered some help.

 

When the pitch became flatter, both Umesh and Tyagi looked more lively than Siraj as they were hitting the deck harder. 

 

Umesh combined accuracy and movement  with pace and bounce.

 

Siraj was accurate with a bit of bounce on occasions and some movement early on.

 

Tyagi generated pace and bounce but was too short.

was not impressed with Tyagi yesterday. Too many hit me balls. Hopefully he evolves as he is young so no writing him off but it was very poor bowling.

Inferior First class Record to Siraj and phainty in the limited overs. 

Also doesn't move the ball as much as Siraj, so no point in picking him for the pink ball test.
