A thread for those who want an impactful T20 team. And to move on from Rohit, Dhawan and Kohli in T20s :orderorder:

Let 2021 be the year of change and where Team Ind creates a new culture that can eventually be transferred to ODIs too (hopefully under the visionary leadership of Sir Don Pandya :om: )

Get on this boat of change

@zen why don't we play with 11 six-hitters in t20? Score 400 runs and restrict opposition to 375. Only need 66 sixes and 1 four to get to 400 which can be achieved in 11.1 overs.

Amen to the idea but that may not be optimizing the 11 as on a given day usually 3-4 batsmen do well (so one batsman would need to avg 15 or more 6s per game) and also need to account for the bowling doing well too (some good overs and catching). Also it is difficult to find 2-3 good consistent 6 hitters in Ind, let alone 11. But the idea can be persuaded among the top 8 by playing more impact batsmen w/ the last 3 slots decided primarily on bowling skills.

The boat needs Indias most prolific 6 hitter and no not a 1-2 6 per match guy but a guy who can hit more than 5 6’s in games he is set. Make that guy the captain too

On a serious note, how viable is it to go with a line up of 11 six hitters, with 3 of them being all rounders and 4 part timers? Basically, no speciaist bowler.

who would sir don select in his XI? Don't see him going with boring Iyers and KLs.

legendary (and imaginary) XI of sir don pandya:

Sanju Samson

Mayank Agarwal

Ishan Kishan(wk)

Surya Kumar

Rishab Pant

SDP (c)

Rahul Tewatia

Krunal Pandya

Navdeep Saini

Natarajan

Jasprit Bumrah

In theory, it can be implemented assuming a team has consistent 11 six hitters (many of them who can bowl well too), while the other team has a traditional set up .... The issue is more about finding those "11" in a national team at a given point .... It can be done on an ATG team level

Buttler

Jayasuriya - can bowl LAS

Viv Richards - can bowl off spin

Morgan

Symmonds

Russell

SDP

Pollard

Klusener

Stokes

Flintoff

Other options: KP, Sehwag (can bowl too), Yuvi (can bowl too), ....

They tried something like this with the world XI thing in 2005 but as expected, there was a lack of synergy. Not really a 11 six hitter concept, but a very deep batting line up with only one specialist bowler.

A process involving a major change would need optimized players and then some time to come to fruition

You just need 5 bowling options who can hit big and some of the other batsmen who can roll over their arm. A team with Pandya, Pollard, Stoinis, Stokes and Narine as main bowlers is fine since they are going to pretty much chase anything they concede

It should start with a new Coach who follows the culture to a T and the selectors providing right players to execute that new culture .

Pandya alone cannot do wholesale change of mindset, planning , selection

Hadd hai yaar. I was thinking ki shayad ab aankhein khulengi but no, you people are living in your own bubble.

Dekh liya Samson, Iyer ko. Please keep your ipl fantasy team to yourself, international cricket sab ipl shooperstars ko expose kar deta hai.

Abhi thodi der aur ruko ishaan kishan ka bhi dhaaga khulega.

Samson was supposed to be Indias best t20 batsman according to some connoisseur here. Who got smacked in the face when kohli outscored him by 100+ runs.

Reality mai aa jao sab, zyada time nahi t20 world cup mai.

Without Kohli this team will fall flat on its face against any opposition, yes even against Bangladesh. Remember Nidahas.

I was about to start the thread. Great minds think alike  My team would be

Rahul (vc) - needs to be told to go for it not tuk tuk like recent years

Mayank

Samson

SKY

Kishan (wk)

Pandya (c) - would float up if 7-8 overs are reamining

Tewatia

Shardul

Sundar

Natarajan

Bumrah

Others in squad:

Pant

Jadeja

D Chahar

R Chahar

Captain RO could have prevented titanic because he moves slower than a steam engine climbing a hill. Also this
