Should Ashwin be the captain instead of Rahane in next three matches?

Rahane is already a mental midget. After running out Kohli, failing in both innings and a mental scar of today's collapse, leading team in three more tests against Aussies in full momentum cannot be good.. even for his own mental health. Plus given his form, he shouldn't even be an automatic starter in all three matches

Ashwin on the other hand has thick skin plus he had a decent outing in this match, so his confidence would still be somewhat intact. He was vice captain for some period, so not complete stranger to leadership position.

It works or it may not, Ashwin himself is not a sure starter in all the tests. Heck he might now even last till the Gabbatoire! The flip side is that if it all falls on Rahane's head, & he doesn't perform well with the bat, then his career is almost over. Since we never know what the TM & drunken master is thinking. At the end of the day it is what it is, all of this may not even matter anyway since we're 99.99% certain to get pummeled.

Nope, let Rahane lead. Either we'll see some miracle or he'll get even more exposed and in latter case he can be made scapegoat.

Ashwin isn't a sure starter due to Jaddu 2.0 and moreover he has a chronic injury problem, never know when it will crop up again. Also I don't like funky, oversmart captains in test cricket. Never liked Baz and Pup, pretty sure Ashwin will adopt that crazy style.

Keep Rahane captain, if he gets injured we have Che. For now Che/Ashwin/Bumrah can be the leadership group to support the skipper, Jaddu as well when he joins the team.

What's wrong? These players have been in lockdown away from India since mid-August. Very hectic schedule, more than 2 months of IPL (before that 2-3 weeks training camps with their franchises), then this, at least Aussies are at home and were allowed to visit their families before the test series. Our players didn't even return home after IPL. They are not robots, let them have some leisure time, after arriving in Aus they were confined to their rooms and had food plates passed under the door, couldn't even go to neighboring rooms with CCTVs monitoring their activities, very strict restrictions, like prison life. No other team has had it so tough, look at how Eng threw tantrums in RSA or poyzzzz doing comedy in NZ. We are following all protocols, cooperating with local authorities, showing lots of patience.

I don't care what they do in their rooms or on non-training days. Just play better on the field.

Better for Rahane to be the captain for the next test. Hd did well as a captain vs Australia back in the 2017 series.

If Rohit is in Australia and available for 3rd and 4th Tests, he should lead. But not sure Kohli-Shastri will allow that. Kohli, being so insecure, will pull all strings to ensure Rohit doesn't even play.

Hope rookies do well under him, for sure he won't be an imposing Dark Lord like Kohli.

If Rohit doesn't play it's fine. I want Mayank and Gill (reports saying KL will replace Kohli in MO) to play remaining 3 tests. Hope they all fire next test and we don't need changes for SCG.

Only mitigating factor is the fat paychecks!  I don't begrudge them for it, just bears mentioning :-).

Sure, just saying that we needn't make too much out of what they are doing in their leisure time. It is not like 2017/18 RSA tour where players landed 6 days before T1, cancelled a practice match and spent 3 days shopping and doing touristy things with their families. These guys have been in Aus for a long time now, away from India even longer, played a couple of warmups, all this in extremely challenging times. Despite being in bio-bubble for so long they haven't done anything stupid like poyzzz or even the English team that toured RSA.
