5 specialist bowlers on an away tour after getting bowled out for 36 is a bold aggressive move as well. Given the batting form Jadeja is in, does he get to bat ahead of Pant or even go in at 4 between Pujara and Rahane?

Jadeja is now becoming more of a batting allrounder  ( except test matches in Asia, where he is a champion bowler )

Would you bat him at 4? A left hander and in his best batting form.

I am not against it.

We need to mess up the immaculate lines and lengths that Cummins and Hazlewood are bowling ... we need a LHB in the top 4

This line-up would result in alternating consolidators and stroke players  ... which is another plus.

Good to see they are backing Vihari.. Hopefully he proves his critics wrong including me.  No 4 might suit him as well.  Two left handers must be adjusted to keep left right combo in middle order.  Good team overall.  Siraj finally..  Now give him the new ball.

Should have played Rahul and backed Vihari to do the bulk of part time bowling.  You dont get out for 36 and play 5 batsman do you?

Try to draw this test first.. unnecessary aggressive tactic or fear of Rahul doing well I guess

Jadeja averages 48.6 with the bat in 24 tests in the last 4 years.  Averages 46+ away from home in this period.

It is probably the best after Kohli and Pujara.

He scored 81 in one the 2 tests he played in Australia last time and followed it with a 58 in tough batting conditions in the WI.

Playing Jadeja over Rahul, won't be a compromise on the batting front ... especially because he is an attacking left hander too.

I guess this is the best combination we got at the moment. I also felt Vihari deserved one or two more games. Siraj looks a decent prospect. Jadeja has improved with the bat.

Cant imagine the kind of pressure Gill will be under, considering his debut in a Boxing day game at MCG that too as an opener after India getting bowled out for lowest score. Tough rite of passage for the kid.

MCG matches can really drag on until end of day 5. We don't want to tire our pace bowlers with 2 more matches to go, especially now that we got two frontline pacers injured.. 5 bowling options is the right idea
