T Natarajan could make his debut at the SCG - TOI

He didn't bowl that well in the second tour game in the second innings. Actually none of the main bowlers succeeded and it was on a lively track in SCG albeit they bowled in conditions that have eased out by then.
So based on that, when guy is looking to settle in after covid and on his first tour in these conditions you made an opinion.

You don't pick a bowler for his batting abilities  BTW Saini and Kuldeep can hold a bat and are on par with Thakur in tests and are better than him in bowling

Dude Thakur has literally won Mumbai ranji titles with the bat batting at 8. Its clearly not true that Saini is better than Thakur with the bat.

Thakur would be more of an all round pick. Even somebody like England dont bowl Stokes unless they have to. (not comparing the both).

We need to look at the deck. If it has something in it for spinners than Ash and Jaddu will be bowling 20-25 overs in an innings.

I am not an expert but a fast bowling enthusiast.

My pick is Saini.

My oick was Saini too but based on experience factor. Natrajan based on his performance should be reassured that he has a place too.

No he wasnt breathtaking in the IPL, ODI series and the warmup match. His only good performance was in the first innings of the warmup under lights with the pink ball. I watched the entire first day so I'm not basing my opinion on some hearsay. he started to bowl short initially (rookie mistake) but he corrected later to get some wickets. Siraj bowled more fuller early on and was unlcuky to not pick more wickets. And this was a C grade batting team. I don't know why they called themselves Australia A but that same team (mcdermott, alex caery, a bits and pieces allrounder) gave an epic phainta to him and he went at the rate of 6 RPO in the second innings. That;s where I formed my opinion. I will be more than happy to be proven wrong. @express bowling even admitted that he wasn't that good in that game.

Dude we are facing a bowling lineup that has sent most of our batters into the sheds early. This is not the time to bring mumbai ranji title stuff into the discussion. We are in the middle of a test series not some random jamodi series nobody cares about. Again what part of not picking a bowler based on their batting abilities did you not understand. My pick will be Kuldeep next Saini. Never Thakur or Natarajan. I hope Rahane doesn't think like you or Kohli :cantstop:

In his first 15 tests, Bumrah has been great at

sustaining 140 k+ even in his last spell of the day.  His endurance is top class.

In the last test, he did trundle in his last 15 overs ... probably because of injury to Shami, Umesh and Ishant. His responsibility and workload has been too much.

He probably wants to make sure that our last experienced pacer stays fit.

Agree.

In Ranji Trophy, Natarajan has not been good at sustaining pace.

Yes that's why I said Nattu will not last for a entire test match..  He is an out an out limited overs specialist.  How I wish they had also sent Prasidh as Ishant's cover for this series.  Prasidh would have played those warmups & perhaps would be ready to debut.  But our selectors are clueless as it can get.  Nattu makes even Shardul look elite.

So your first pick Kuldeep would be in addition to Ashwin Jadeja and Vihari (who can also spin it)?

As you mention, this is not a random jamodi series that nobody cares about. What part of not packing your line up with spinners in Australia of all places did you not understand? I really do hope that Rahane does not think like you or Kohli.

Imitation is a sign of flattery   Kuldeep can turn it in SCG more than Jaddu or Ashwin. Vihari will do jack sh1te with his dibbly dobbly. Aussies gave 8 wickets to 2 spinners in a slightly spinning surface with bounce. SCG will provide more help to spinners. And Aussies will have never faced 3 spinners in their home turf so there's a surprise element to it. Kully also took a 5 wkt haul last time in SCG. So there it is. Tell me why Thakur trumps over Saini much less Kuldeep :winky:

History says go with a spin heavy attack at SCG. Just look at India vs Australia records at SCG in cricinfo.

Pick Kuldeep Yadav over Saini/Natarajan, unless the SCG pitch is a greentop.

Also Bumrah just managed one wicket last time he played in Sydney, so it shows how important spin is.

Sydney won't spin as many would think here,no matter how bad they fared against our bowling, they will always attack our batsmen with their pacers,so the strip is been designed as such to assist seamers

Three spinners that too based on an assumption is bit too much

Play three pacers ,Jaddu,Ashvin are enough to extract any spin on offer

Vihari has picked up 2 wicket at Perth v Australia in 2018. Two set batsman at that. Last I checked Perth was not exactly spin friendly. He has also bowled 7 overs for 14 runs and picked up 1 wicket in the warm up with Australia A on this tour.

If you think he is just dibly dobly then I rest my case.

PS use of smiles is a form of weakness.
