Ek se bhala do, Two is better than one..CDC confirms that double-masking significantly helps prevent the spread of COVID-19

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released a new report on Wednesday confirming what many experts had already suggested: wearing two masks prevents the spread of COVID-19 more than wearing just one mask. The CDC also reports that a tight mask fit is important and significantly protects the wearer from contracting COVID-19.

Why stop there at two? Isn't three better than two? I think the best way to stop spreading the virus is...

I am going on a flight v soon, talked to a couple of peeps who flew to India recently, who said, this is already practiced. Everybody is wearing at least two to three masks in flights. Face guards and gloves are also common. Just going to follow others as it might be enforced as well. :fear:

I have not seen anyone wear two masks. People are barely wearing one .

On flights it is one mask and face shield.

Lot of people say face shield with barrier on top is more effective than a mask.

One professor said if everyone wears N-95 for four weeks (everyone in the nation) this disease will go away.

From day 1, here's what I've been doing:  While outdoors, single mask.  While indoors in a public place (e.g., grocery store), double mask (one KN-95 plus one cloth).  Come back from grocery store, immediate shower plus laundry.  If I ever have to fly during this pandemic, I am quadruple masking an wrapping my face in clingwrap :-).  I have elderly people living with us and am not willing to risk bringing anything home.

If you have the middle seat, you have to wear a face shield and the PPE.

But people tend to get rid of it in a few minutes after the seat belt sign is switched off. It can get really sweaty.

CDC- effing jokers..

lost trust in those morons

So, you expected them to have all the perfect answers as soon as the pandemic hit?  Then conspiracy theorists would say - "how did they know all the answers?  They knew all along that this pandemic was going to hit and didn't tell us ... no wait, they created the pandemic, so they can control us."

Point is - we learn stuff as we go along from studying trends, and new recommendations are made based on this new knowledge.

What I had a problem with was that the US Govt recommended against masks at the beginning of the pandemic because it would cause panic buying, not leaving enough for healthcare workers.  Stupid reason (that they even admitted to).  Past knowledge from Spanish flu had made it clear 100 yrs ago that masks minimize transmission.  They should've made arrangements to equip healthcare workers while simultaneously encouraging people to wear masks.
