Gollum Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 (edited) Underrated record, with 7 MOTS Ash is India's all-time leader. England is the only major team whose scalp is missing in Ash's trophy cabinet, not a jinx thread, promise. Never played Pak/Zim/Ire, BD is meh and anyway he has played just one 2 match series against them (Ishant MOTS), remaining two were one-off matches. Aus 2013 home RSA 2015 home NZ 2x 2012, 2016 home Lanka 2015 away WI 2x 2011 home, 2016 away He deserved another MOTS against WI at home in 2013 (SRT farewell series) but the idiots gave it to Rohit....Ro scored 2 100s and was top scorer, Ash scored 1 100 and was 2nd highest scorer from both sides....also the small matter of fact that Ash was leading wicket-taker in that series at avg 19. He was robbed, should have been level with Warne, Imran, Hadlee by now!!!!!! Where do you see him ending at on this list? Murali can't be caught methinks....though I haven't checked how many of his were against 2000s BD and Taibu led Zim....close to 200 out of his 800 wickets were against those 2 teams at a healthy average of under 15, not even getting into the discussion about his action Update: Now wins against England. Congrats!!!!!! Edited March 6, 2021 by Gollum raki05 1
SK_IH Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 Definitely going to number 2 spot very soon neel roy, raki05 and Gollum 1 2
Jimmy Cliff Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 He should have got joint MOTS along with Kohli the last time England were here. Scored 300+ runs and took 28 wickets in that series. How many MOTS awards he finishes with depends a lot on who is bowling along side him in India . raki05, Gollum and nevada 1 2

True that, he was close but Chennai test sealed the deal, P Patel played a part as well 2013 WI though was a disgrace man, I think it was Gavaskar's decision.... maybe wanted to give impetus to Rohit's career there. 1 minute ago, Jimmy Cliff said: How many MOTS awards he finishes with depends a lot on who is bowling along side him in India . All these guys are screwing each other Ashwin, Jaddu, Shami, Umesh, Ishant (BD 2019), soon Bumrah and Siraj. Though great as a unit, so many individual records unable to be achieved, at some level that must rankle each one of them no matter how much they deny. Jaddu is such a badass spinner especially at home, yet going at just over 4 wickets per test since debut!!! raki05, Soumo and Jimmy Cliff 3

They need each other while bowling in SENA but in India they'd actually end up with better stats when they are bowling as a part of relatively weaker attacks. In the long run it will help their average but they will miss out on the big hauls. Ashwin at least had a period where he cashed in big time during 2015-16.
IndianLegend Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 This series he should definitely win MOS if he had played last test in Australia and put in decent performance he would have had a good shot there too
vvvslaxman Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 Should have won one more. Rohit or Kohli snatched it in a very close race. One of the real MVP of Indian cricket. Always tried to get better with bat and ball. Hope other lower order batsman with a bit of potential spend time in honing their batting skill. Ishant used to be a resolute batsman. But after getting mixed up with lulloo batsmen of current era he has become one of them lol. raki05 1
putrevus Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 His batting after 2016 became horrible to tailender level. But to his credit he worked on it and Sydney innings has given him confidence again in his batting. If they continue to bat like this everywhere,I would play both Jadeja and Ashwin in away test except green tops.We will always have two spinners plus we can play 3 fast bowlers.
putrevus Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 Ashwin has to contend sharing wickets with a very good bowling attack both home and away for rest of his career. That’s why Warne 700 is more impressive than Murali’s 800.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Cricspin 1

Even Kallis has 1 against BD and 1 against Zim Gollum 1
Serpico Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 Its between Rohit and Ashwin in this series. Ashwin may not get many wickets in the pink ball match, so if Rohit scores big runs in next two matches, he will get it
Jay Posted February 17, 2021 Posted February 17, 2021 (edited) One of the best of all time. To me the best spinner or all time along with jaddu. Don't care about chucker Murali, Warne who got thrashed in India and Lanka or anyone else. Prasanna and co were from different era. Post 90s, Ashwin and jaddu are the best spinners. Period. I repsect Kumble and bhaji but as a whole package they aren't as good as either jaddu or Ashwin. Sorry. Edited February 17, 2021 by Jay raki05 1

Don't you atleast check the stats before making these ridiculous claims? I mean seriously it takes less than a minute to check. Warne took 48 wickets in Lanka at 20.4 avg.. how did he get thrashed? Ashwin played against much weaker Lankan team and still averages more than warne in Lanka I can understand being biased towards our own players but you take it to extreme degree, it looks comical Stan AF and kohli 2
Gollum Posted February 17, 2021 Author Posted February 17, 2021 Someone can correct me if I am wrong but based on some tweet or news article I saw (can't find it now) MOTM in tests for India: Sachin 14 Dravid 11 Kumble 10 Kohli* 9 Kapil, Sehwag, Ashwin* 8

Also as an allrounder he is up there with Kapil in test cricket. As a match winner in test cricket since the time i have started watching Ashwin and Sehwag stands out for me and Sir is slowly reaching there and next in line is Pant as he has already played one of the ATG knock in our best overseas victory. Good time for indian fans. Gollum 1

I remember him getting obliterated by sangakarra and jaywardene. Stats isn't everything otherwise Philander would be a great player and certainly above Wasim Akram based off 'stats'. He got wrecked in India. Ashwin played against a weaker side but perhaps just maybe it is just Ashwin being too good and making Lanka look worse than they actually are? That's a possibility too. I presume that applies only if you are a Sena team? Not directed at you but those posters know who they are...... At the end of the day, there is one difficult tour in Asia. India. You need to perform vs India in India. Warner din't. Ashwin has performed vs Australia and South Africa. Stats don't reflect how good he was on those docile tracks of south Africa at the time. He only struggled in England and even there he has had a few good moments. His career is not even over. Ashwin and Jadeja are the best post 90s to me. No one wins games as much as they do for their home country albeit aided by our world class top tier Pacers post 2015.

Good time for indian fans. Ashwin Jadeja? ATG already easily. One of the best of all time duo. Pant ? He will be there soon Gill? Will be there soon Bumrah? ATG already. Stats. * stats. He hasn't played enough games but I know quality when I see one. He is top tier quality just like Shane bond. Shami? Will be an ATG Rohit? One good performance away from home in England and South Africa and I will consider him for ATG status. I will no longer doubt this man in home Condtions ever. I used to think he is overrated but he definitely has grown on me. Kohli? ATG period Rahane? Well he is Rahane. Great captino though. Vihari? Future Puji which means future ATG Pujara ? Easily ATG. Legendary team.

If you're counting them all then there's McWarne - daylight, taillight, moonlight, backlight, headlight & then jadeja/Ashwin
