What has happened to Mohammad Hafeez?

He was a good allrounder if you ignore the chucking and take it for what it was when he was doing it without getting caught.

In fact  Hafeez 1.0 would have made it into the Indian side in LOI’s as an allrounder for Indian team of that time 2010 decade as we kept looking for a competent allrounder.

Hafeez 2.0 can easily replace Pandey and Iyer in T20’s adding to the fact that he can also bowl.

Usually Pakistan players are overrated by their fans while everyone else sees them for what they are, in Hafeez’s case it is the opposite. He is underrated because he is not very flashy, juzbaa Junoon type shtaar.

Good player but still its surreal that Hafeez was a test opener once.

You don;t deserve to be a moderate , always posting negative things about Pakistan .

Didn't know Hafeez was Pakistan, all by himself.

And feel free to debate, the batting prospects in Pakistan beyond  Babar Azam are few and far between.

How do you rate that youngster Haider Ali?

He played in the same U19 WC as Yashasvi Jaiswal but seems to have leapfrogged him!

He always had gift of timing.. Batswing I think is the main reason..  Even Guys like Morgan Roy had improved six hitting by playing baseball..

I also think it has to be some sort of changes in the head as to how you approach your game.

He is tonking 140+ stuff as well even at this age.

I have a club for these kind of guys. Super to watch but mental midgets. I still remember his 2011 semi final shot :phehe:

members of this club - hafeez, ashraful, DK, Ahmed shezad, Astle, Sadagpoan Ramesh

Did pretty well in CT'17 Final at back end of the innings, didn't he?

Absolutely smashing it since the WC2019.

What change do you notice in his batting and that too when he is in his late 30s and 40s?

IMO, more of a mindset change with a little contribution from better swing of the bat.

Was reading the below on another forum, its very interesting.

CPL he went to that we all made fun of. Remember his pictures at the beach that fans trolled him about? Anyways during that trip he observed the Caribbean attitude towards hitting sixes — said he realized for the first time in his life it’s not just that these are big guys and are naturally talented at hitting sixes, but that they actively practice six hitting in the nets in much the same way that he himself would practice his drives in the nets all his life — he had simply never been exposed to power hitting coaching at any point in his entire career. Said in the same interview that he stopped practicing his drives in the nets for the first time in his career, and focused entirely on his shape and core when trying to clear the rope. He began golf around the same time, and this helped him understand the importance of body positioning and a stable swing at the ball. Very interesting story, all said.

Very interesting thing about power hitting never being taught in any coaching. But in the modern world of T20 and league cricket, we should definitely include power hitting coaching for youngsters
