javier26 Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 (edited) England are already out of the tournament so they have nothing to lose and the pressure is off their back. India is almost there but need to avoid defeat in the last Test. The English team has the chance to avoid a series defeat and knock India out of the WTC Finals. If anyone asked this question before the start of the series , you could have dismissed any chance of that happening but after the shocking English victory in the first test , nothing can be guaranteed. India have dominated England in the last two tests but considering the criticism that the pitch has invited, the curators most likely will produce a relatively batting friendly pitch. So if luck favours England and they win the toss, get a big first innings score then India could be under pressure and the script of first test can be repeated. The English Camp and their Media has whined enough to ensure that the pitch in the next match is likely to be more balanced and less favourable to the home team. Edited March 1, 2021 by javier26
nevada Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 (edited) Absolutely! The series score isn't 2-0 or 3-0. England still have a chance to equal the score in a series where they lost 2 matches back to back in humiliating fashion. So they will be very motivated plus there's the satisfaction of ruining our chances for the WTC. The pressure is on India to qualify for WTC. We got past one virtual knock out in T3 and have to repeat the feat in T4 also, which is not going to be easy. Rohit has been the difference maker in T2 and T3 and is due for a failure. None of the other batsmen seem capable of making big scores and that's a big problem. So if a turning pitch is prepared, it could prove to be a disaster if Rohit falls cheaply. coffee_rules Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 ICC will ensure an India entry into the first WTC final gets them the most value for the buck

That's why I wonder if many high level games are fixed. If they wanted India to win then india would have beaten n.z in semis. India had rotten luck in that game as it should have really been a replay rather than a 2 day game. It depends on betting I feel. Banton and Rightarmfast 2

No point bitching about it. Infact, we have this CHOKERS tag since the 2014 T20 IIRC. We tend to get into semis easily only to lose in the knockouts. sage 1

Nz scraped into wtc final only by winning at home against all teams; India Pakistan and Windies. They played 2 away series. Thrashed by Aus 3-0 and drew pathetic Lanka 1-1. Whereas India won all against home: South Africa, Bangladesh, England ( till now) and away against Windies, Australia. They only lost to Nz 2-0. Aus would have been the more apt opponent for India based on results. Their 4 points deducted by Boon in Melbourne came back to haunt them.

sage Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 NZ will be anxious India qualifies. Can see them getting thumped by the Aussies
SRT100 Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 NZ would rather play India in a WTC Final than Australia.
ShoonyaSifar Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Only India (read Kohli) can spoil India's party. All we need is for the captain genius and his gang of yesmen coaches to show a little more confidence in hisbown team's ability to defeat these poms irrespective of the conditions. But somehow genius (and strangely a lot of fans) is/are convinced that on even normal spinning wickets, England has better chances of beating us. That's terribly underselling this team's capability. To overcome this fear, we keep under-cooking the pitches and at some stage it is going to bite us badly. f20143g70 1
