You did not address my question?

Now that you agree Pak never won the mace, let me address your question.

India hasn't won ICC trophies lately (except U-19) and no one on this forum will defend that or make excuses. We are however making it to SF, F consistently in men's and women's tournaments and only a matter of time before we start crossing the final hurdle. We were the most consistent team in men's side in ICC events in 2010s, while that is good we have been choking a lot post 2013 CT win. Our test success in recent years is more (or at least equally) important for many of us fans here, if we complement that with ODI/T20 trophies in the 2020s we will be regarded as an ATG team.

Of Kohli and team's Success

Whats with the Hyperbole of 1000 wickets  ?

Due to no DRS there were a lot of not outs too which went Kumble and Harbhajan's way.

if DRS was there India wouldnt have won 2 test series:

1. 2007 Lords: Bucknor gave Dhoni plumb LBW not out when we were 9 down. We drew the match. Win the Jellybeansgate next match and Ian Bell drew the last one in Oval with a century made more famous by Kumbles ton.

Series: 1-0

2. 2010 India Laxman Ojha.. Ojha was plumb lbw with 2 runs to get. Crooked finger Bowden didnt raise his fingers as Ojha lol showed his bat. India won that match and next match chasing ( Pujara special) and we won. We were 9 down.

Series: 2-0

If DRS was there Symonds would have been out in Sydney 2008 and though India were in good position there was no cast iron guarantee we would have won as it was first innings. So lot of time left to play. But the above 2 were cast iron shouts and we were 9 down in both;)

When did that happen?

In the same innings, Ishant got a howler when we were 8 down so if there was DRS, Ojha probably wouldn't have had to bat :marchmellow:.

From CI Commentary logs,

Game on a knife's edge now. Last man walks out. That's the wicket Australia was looking for! Ishant's long brave patient vigil is over. It was the lovely slower one, off cutter on the middle and leg line and full in length. Ishant drives but outside the line. The ball lands and turns towards the leg stump. Got to see the replays: It looks as if it would have missed the leg stump. Replays show that that ball would have comfortably missed the leg stump! oh well..

Lol maybe umpires compensated.

If anything, Ashwin averages one run more with DRS in place than he did without it.

Jadeja too, averages a run more with the DRS system in place.

Thanks. You nailed it.

Glad you mentioned it people forget that Lord Bucknor helped win our first series in england

Who is bitter? Gambhir for saying Indian legends Kumble and Bhajji were so good they could have taken more wickets with DRS or those in this thread who are now mocking Bhajji's hattrick or Kumble's 10-for?

BTW, Gambhir said exactly the same thing in May 2020 and has been consistent in his views. Not once he has tried to run down Ashwin's achievements. He has always called him phenomenal and  in fact been asking for him to be included in the LOIs!

Pakistan briefly held the mace in 2016, although they couldn't stay on top by the cut-off date for the prize.

unfortunately yaha bhi India was unfair & snatched mace by the cut off date. Chalo thankfully ek photo tou click kar li ICC ne :hatsoff:

he's not revealing/doesn't know the context behind them 'winning' the mace, they only went top because our match in wi got washed out at the same time.

from what i recall the batmen were the one's who were mostly upset .kumble retired in 2008 after that it was dhoni who didnt like it either.

Yes, Sachin was against it too, only came out in support of it much later, just before retiring. Dhoni didnt like it at all

First some ignorants said pakistan never won test mace when encountered with facts they have started beating about bush but that does not change the facts

the fact behind why you won it is not 'beating around the bush', especially in response to when someone tried to wade into the thread and troll. last i checked you people weren't keen on regarding the mace as an icc trophy. what gives?

Gambhir isn't bitter in this case, generally he is also a fair guy. Bhajji, Yuvraj different matter.

But Gambo doesn't do his research thoroughly (remember a stupid suggestion of his where he wanted Ashwin as #4 in the ODI team), maybe difficult since he might be busy with politics and his NGO work. Problem is when ex-players like him make loose statements it gives a lot of ammo to padosis and goras to take potshots at this Indian team.

Whatever issue we have we must discuss internally at appropriate forums, by talking nonsense in public we are helping those who hate Indian cricket.
