He is right,  may be being benched in superior league like IPL wherein performance matters rather than name, is not rewarding pay check wise as payment I think is in proportion to matches played.

Secondly, Steyn is being realistic, lol no franchise is as stupid as RCB to pick him anyway. I think even RCB had enough of him last year & he knew skipping is better than being snubbed.

So he is actually saying that playing in other garibo ka league is more rewarding than IPL. Of Corse it will be, if you dont perform in ipl you will be shown the door btw he knows his worth now so he is trying to justify his non seleciton in ipl and rcb dropping him. Also it looks like, everyone should ask him all the time how great he is and drool about him ,reality is in IPL there are so many big players that Steyn is just one among them or not even that and amount of money IPL pay and presence of Indian superstar cricketers already dwarf stardom of any other cricketer.

I know I'll be laughing my ass off everytime a greenbro tries to use this to brag about PSL - I mean he straight up clubbed PSL with the Sri Lankan T20 league.  That just tells you what he thinks of it.  "Better" isn't the word that most folks would use.  

 

You also have to understand - its not the easiest thing to do - show up for interviews and give sound bites that are complementary about the current league that you are playing in - players are often searching for words, and what 'nice' things you can say.  And that sometimes leads to odd things being said.

Steyn was a mediocre IPL player even in his peak. He was a bad ODI bowler, let's be honest. He did no favors to himself by getting smacked for a six off the last ball by Grant Elliot in the 2015 semifinal. Even last time RCB bagged him in the last minute out of respect like CSK did for Pujara this season.
