Thala never cared about tests

Yeah I know, skipped the Mendis debut series in SL - clear signs of where his priorities lay!

Individual don't have series wins, teams do. If  Sundar or pujara had failed, pants knocks would be in vain. Too much for a retarded bot to understand, I know

Didn't you dumbass blame Dhoni for 9-0 ? What happened to your "Indivduals don't have blah blah crap". You use it according to your convenience is it ? But the thing is he was there till the end to win India series unlike your sachu!

Captains are responsible for teams. Thats the whole points of captaincy. No one would blame Dhoni for 9-0 if he only played as a player and not captain

We have sung praises and praises and praises for Dhoni winning world cup as Captain while sachin is blamed for being a horrid captain because of team loses

I seriously think you are a bit mentally challenged, you cannot understand or follow the simplest of points and keep jumping to completely unrelated things

Dhoni was a poor test batsman apart from Asian and n.z Condtions surprisingly. That time they produced Pattas though. Did ok in England when India were already losing.

Dhoni was a trash captian.

Insult to compare this fraud test cricketer to an Atg like pant.

Dhoni was an AtG short format player. Absolutely.

Test cricket ? Cypher.

Atg like Pant. LOL.

agreed pant had played 3 match winning knocks in recent times. But how loosely Indian fans use ATG —For someone who has played a mere 20 matches.

the moment he has a bad patch, this same lot would demand that he be dropped.

i judge based on quality not quantity.

bumrah is already an ATG level bowler for us. so is shame. Ability matters more to me.

if both have a steep decline from now on then sure take them out of the ATG list. I am putting them in our ATG list based on how they have performed so early in their careers. in terms of sheer talent and ability, both walk into most ATG teams.

Cricket can be cruel game and has a long history . Fans have short memories.

Pant is a terrific terrific talent.

But ATG cannot be used so loosely.

In Tests Pant is ahead. He will leave MS far behind for any future discussions if he carries his form for next 3 years.

In ODI...Dhoni is way ahead. The version of 2004-2014 MS was a different beast. Those two inns of 72*(46) & 77*(56) in Pakistan was a dream. Pant has a steep mountain to climb.

In T20's....DK is better than these two.

I don't know about DK being better. It just shows how crap our keeper batsmen have been in T20Is.

MS was indeed the best in ODIs if we ignore his career from 2014 onwards.

I think even in Tests, he was more than fine in Asian conditions. Problem was in Southern Hemisphere where he couldn't play bounce at all

He was still the best Test keeper bat we ever had at that point.  Ahead of Mongia and co

Not sure, I haven't seen Farrokh Engineer bat but my father was a big fan of him. He was a lot better batter in comparison to the keepers which followed him.

But yeah, MS was superior keeper-bat in Tests than Surinder Amarnath, Kirmani, More, Mongia and the rest.

Yeah even my mother, a cricket fanatic, considered Engineer the best keeper even though she barely saw him play.

But we can't judge that era much.  It was a different sport altogether.

MS was the 2nd best keeper bat of the last 50 years and even that is only because we found Pant.

Goes past Dhoni in SENA matches as well.

It's not just the number of runs. It's the clutchiness and match-winning performances. I have lost count of how many times he has led the team to victory with his clutch batting.

He has more ability in all formats than Dhoni ever had. odis and t20s he has not been given right slots .He should be opener in whiteball cricket. He would do just fine there.

Pant is a bit like sehwag plays really well when he has a bit of time. It just shows in his test and ODI performance where T20s he struggles  a bit.
