rangeelaraja
I think Pant has played more than enough clutch innings in his short test career. Looks like he will get at least 15 test centuries in his career. raki05, asterix, beetle and 1 other 3 1 Link to comment
shami_123
Yes, he is better than Dhoni already. Dhoni was dud in SENA. Pant has tons in SENA and better average with better strike rate. Australians already rate him close to Gilchrist. raki05 1 Link to comment

SK_IH
Yes & he was always going to. Dhoni was limited batsman who overachieved due to constantly improving & evolving as a batsman. Pant has enormous potential. You just need to see how he drove Starc at Brisbane, pulled Cummins at Melbourne & negotiated a tough spell from Anderson today. Just leave him alone, no comparison with Gilly please. adi B, raki05, Vk1 and 3 others 6 Link to comment

zen
Said it many times, likes of Pant (and SDP) are good enough to play as batsman alone. Let’s stop putting a limit on such cricketers where they can only get it based on AR contributions beetle and express bowling 2 Link to comment

Now, all the oldies (Maanzrekar, Gambhir etc) will come out and say: (1) Batting is easier these days. (2) Bowling is weaker these days. (3) DRS is more favorable to batsmen these days. (4) If SRT and RSD had played these days they'd have 100,000 runs in tests alone. express bowling, mancalledsting, raki05 and 1 other 4 Link to comment

Real McCoy
Pant is already showing that he is a better test batsmen than Dhoni. But Dhoni was no dud as some people are here mentioning. Dhoni scored a crucial 70 no with only no.11 for company and drew a test which we were supposed to lose in the 1st test in Eng tour 2007. We won the second and drew the third thereby winning the series. Also Dhoni played some crucial 50s in the 14 tour v Eng when others were crumbling. i remember Kohli had an average of 13 that series or something with Anderson claiming him all the time. raki05 and Cricspin 2 Link to comment
