It’s the private sector that should do it. If they want funding they should reach govt but govt should stay away from this.

To start Building plant now is not going to help the crisis unless we know it will come back again in 2022. Same is true for vaccine , doctors and other stuff. We need them all now.

Clarke Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 (edited) The oxygen crisis required action at lightning speed, I don't know if Indian govt(s) is/are capable of doing better but it is a failure at the end of the day. That and setting the worst examples, be it Kumbh or election rallies. Is the mRNA vaccine conclusively & vastly superior over all others against currently known variants ? Even the pfizer boss is suggesting booster shots, which is in the works for all major brands. Edited April 23, 2021 by Clarke Norman 1

What can be more important to the government that health infrastructure? Building cold storage for vaccine transport, building oxygen plants are necessary

For instance does the inactivated virus vaccine work reasonably well against variants to be an option ? Would it be suitable to update the adenovirus vector like Sputnik already does across the doses ? Is there a mechanism to nullify the clotting concern ? There's a lot that could be uncovered.

Apart from logistical challenge ( which the govt has to solve) there is no other downside to mRNA vaccines. The blood clot issue seems to be linked to adenovirus vaccines ( JJ , AZ) and Sputnik may also have the same issue. And mRNA works better against variants too. I understand that vaccines like AZ are cheaper and easier to store so we need a mixed approach of vaccinating urban hotspots with mRNA vaccines and whenever the logistics is not possible for last mile connectivity AZ can be used. All it needs is some planning Edited April 23, 2021 by ash

Regulatory agencies must be given the freedom to apply rigorous scientific and statistical principles to hold companies accountable for clinical trial results. Keep politics and national pride considerations away from this, and Indian scientists will deliver. I know there lot of stupid people but majority will listen if it comes from reputable source and agree with other part 4 hours ago, gattaca said: @coffee_rules @BacktoCricaddict The similarities between COVID-19 and Spanish flu are mind boggling. How can the Indian scientists miss this part ? 1918 flu had similar curves of infection rates and deaths. I really surprised no one raised an alarm. 1918 had three waves. We definitely not paid much attention to history. https://www.boston25news.com/news/health/did-mutation-ramp-up-1918-flu-pandemic/4XITZ6B74JDWJCKKQ7LH753RD4/ I had knowledge about it from reading and I bet majority of doctors and Scientist knew it. The problem is they only can predict it can happen its not guarantied and government and people turns blind eye to them its only when it happens you will know the impact. if you see Ebola as example scientist were warning if it becomes transmissible it can really dangerous and were asking for research but majority didn't care and luckily its still has not mutated more transmissible although it has like 4 variants now I think gattaca and BacktoCricaddict 1 1

Where the eff are all liberandu who are allways against Industries and corporate https://indianexpress.com/article/india/sc-on-vendanta-plea-to-make-sterlite-plant-operational-7285865/ Quote A bench headed by Chief Justice S A Bobde suggested that Tamil Nadu can manufacture it and asked the state government to submit a proposed plan by Monday. “Why don’t you fulfill your responsibility in manufacturing oxygen? Just because you have problem with Vedanta, you will not manufacture oxygen? What kind of argument is this. We are not interested whether Vedanta or A, B, or C runs it. We are interested in ensuring Oxygen is produced. It is not a question of Vedanta. People are dying. You (state) can produce Oxygen,” the court said as per reports by the Bar and Bench. coffee_rules 1

In what the authors say is the largest study yet of the long-term impacts of Covid-19, researchers looked at the records of more than 73,000 patients at the Veterans Health Administration who had had Covid-19 but weren't hospitalized with it, examining the records over a six-month period after their diagnoses. The researchers found that patients who had Covid-19 had a 60% higher risk of death between one and six months after getting sick than those who had not had Covid-19. They also had a 20% greater chance of needing more medical care over the six months. Respiratory problems were the most common complaint for those patients, but they also had a higher number of diagnoses for nervous system problems, headaches, trouble sleeping, anxiety, fear, trauma, stress disorders, stomach problems and metabolic disorders such as diabetes and obesity. They also had more treatment for low energy and fatigue. The researchers also looked at Covid-19 patients who had been hospitalized and saw similar results. The sickest patients seemed to have more long-term complications. Fear Porn is what is playing out. I wish people just are discrete.
ash Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 The local people are against opening the plant. Govt wants to avoid law and order issue now. For now TN is in oxygen surplus, but things might change in a week or two.
