Siraj is in England. Avesh unlucky to be jn England. He should have played this. Also i think Mandeep Singh deserved a chance.. also 20 players for 6 matches.. overkill. They should have played 5 t20s and 3 odis..

Surprised they didn't pick Tyagi.  Potential debut robbed imo.  I'd have dropped even Saini for him. 

Dhawan Shaw SKY Kishan Samson Hardik pick themselves as batsman.  

I'll take Nitish Rana over Pandeyji anyday.

Kartik Tyagi is definitely a miss.. 

Gowtham over Tewatia is questionable.. maybe they picked him because he is the only finger spinner and they already have Chahar and Chahal for leg spin.

 

Pandey should strictly be for ODIs.. would have liked to see 3D Shankar ahead of Pandey... honestly Pandey has been eating up Shankar's chances in SRH and now India XI

They as per reports looking at Tyagi for potential test fast bowler in the mould of Wagner who would bowl fast and bouncers on call.. they are wrapping him up in cotton wool and for that reason they didnt want him as a net bowler in england as well..

At least try to give him a feel of Int'l cricket first up.  ODIs would be perfect format for him to start things up. 

Even if those reports are right dude won't get an opportunity till SA tour in Dec.  

Wrapping him up in cotton wool makes little sense here.  Unless they want to unleash him like Brett Lee suddenly outta nowhere

After keeping him as a net bowler for the entire Aus tour! If he is fit, then might as well stop playing.

 

 

The whole selection looks unbalanced. So many spinners and openers, not enough MO batsmen and seamers

 

4 openers - Dhawan, Shaw, Paddikal, Ruturaj

4 MO batsmen - SKY, Pandey, Hardik, Rana

2 Keepers - Kishan and Samson (both can open as well)

6 spinners - Krunal, Chahal, Chahar, Kuldeep, Varun, Gowtham

just 4 seamers - Bhuvi, Chahar, Saini, Sakariya

Bharat Arun apparently has taken him under his tutelage and they have drawn up a long term plan with him as an important part of that. Dont forget he concussed Pucovski injured Mayank and Rahul in australia.. he is definitely in plans..

Padikkal and Varun should get their debuts atleast in one of the games. 

 

Interestingly Simarjeet among the net bowlers, good to see he is in the radar atleast. Could get in the A sides in the future, has potential.

Selections that wasnt needed

 

• Manish - he aint a match winner, even in ODI he struggles on slow pitches in middle overs
• Rana- wont last long in international cricket
• Ruturaj- good player but to many openers
• K gowtham- Must have been selected as replacement of Sundar
