LOL so after 1980 the ability of India and Pakistan in Hockey just vanished overnight yes? Nothing to do with new playing conditions introduced which were alien to them?

And have you not been watching the matches, clear referee bias against India and its been happening for many years. You sound like a gawar pendu by not seeing facts out there for everyone to see

Emergence of cricket is one off the reasons for that and perhaps the prime reason

Yes because we won the WC in 1983... coupled with the fact that there was NO grassroot infrastructure for astro turfs in India.. so the existing players and new generation could not adapt straight away. Its taken us 25/30 years to get the point now where the surface has been taken out of the equation- till they bring another rule change

Did India do well at the last WC? This run could just be one of the underdog stories, I remember even Pakistan got bronze in some major tournament in 2010s but they have been crap other than that

Belgium started marking  us better midway thru 3rd quarter we had no answer for it . Couldn’t move up in offence …Kept trying long Arial  pass which didn’t work. I think the coach needed to change game plan to be able to advance . 2-2 starting 4th quarter we competed . Reason mention above being stuck on our end ..nerves come into play which led to easy giveaway and Manpreet card was final nail…

The what if’s : managing to convert penetration to pc … we weren’t smart in the circle at all . Hard work undone by losing the ball in the circle …

+ points gained a fan . I will try to watch more Indian hockey :cheer:

Pakistan won 1994 world cup. And 80s and 90s was time when cricket madness in both countries reached very high. Astro turf did badly affected both countries but then games do change with time

Umpiring was bad and against India but it's impossible to believe in this age when you are blamed to be racist , sexist etc on slight instance large number no of umpires are doing it for racial reasons

i shouldn't have woken up, nthing went right after the 4th quarter began and it was an excuse to keep awarding one PC after another. Why did Manpreet get the green card though?

The game is generally free flowing and enjoyable but these kind of rules do put you off a game when you watch occasionally. 2 or 3 games now in both the men and women it's felt that the refs have been too fussy and technical when they allowed common sense to prevail.

India's lost referral, robbery.

Umpires twice taking referrals on insistence of Belgium, first to save their team referral, second time to help them out. Why even have limit on referrals then?

Penalty stroke awarded to Bel when ball was clearly going wide, nothing conclusive about Sreejesh's position as well.

Manpreet's green card for a stick check, no similar call against the other side in Q2.

Going soft on Bel despite them tackling us roughly, physically pushing us, so many times.

We could have done better in PCs, both conversion as well as not giving them so freely. But make no mistake, this was a classic case of goras helping goras, seen this happen so many times against Asian sides. Hope federation raises its voice and demands some explanation.
