also should try for kho kho if possible, maybe malayali martial arts.

Thing is Kalaripattu is seen as a dance form. It's like Capoeira in that aspect.

You don't have sparring. But you have face offs where both the contestants try to out manoeuvre the other.

Devoid of the inherent belligerence that one associated with the other martial arts, would Kalaripattu make it to the Olympics?

Our badminton players seem a lot fitter than our cricketers. Just my amateurish observation based on watching re-runs 2 Badminton games so far in these Olympics.

Technically speaking yes if India forms a Federation of Kalaripattu players/ performers, get it registered with Indian Olympic Association, ensure there is state level associations and a national championship, then after test case get it registered as a sport with International Olympic Committee and ensure it gets publicity across India and globe by erm perhaps making mrs jonas or mrs singh padukone the face of it..

Mirabhai Channu appointed as Superintendent of Police- good on her but don't expect any more medals to come from her in future editions. Olympic Medal- Check. Government Job- Check. Job done.

One more post full of ignorance. She already had a 'government job' from 2014 onward as a Chief Ticket Inspector for Northern Frontier Railways. Got promoted in 2018 as the Officer on Special Duty (Sports) after winning a Commonwealth Gold Medal.  Didn't deter her from winning an Olympic medal.

We Indians are pathetic. Kitna bhi tariqqi kare still have the crab mentality. Read this. I didn’t expect this from Seema

Kaur said she was touched by the humility of Sandra Perkovic of Croatia and Valarie Allman of the United States, who congratulated her after her performance in the qualification round.

Allman (66.42m) qualified for the final as the best while Perkovic (63.75m) was third.

"Perkovic is a great athlete with two Olympic gold medals (2012 and 2016); she was having her meal but then she came to me and congratulated me. The American, Allman, also did the same. She told me it was a very good effort from me. I was touched; I am like nobody when compared to them."

She said, in contrast, her senior colleague in the Indian team had made "unsubstantiated" accusations on her.

Veteran Seema Punia, who failed to qualify for the final on Saturday, had asked the AFI to conduct a hyperandrogenism test on Kaur after her junior colleague produced two big throws of 65.06m and 66.59m recently to sit at number six in the world.

"I was hurt (by the accusation). She is senior to me and instead of giving guidance to me, she made accusations without any proof," Kaur said, without taking naming anyone.

The same old story of big ego clashes. Seema Antil (Poonia) faced similar issues with her senior Krishna Poonia in early 2010s. Instead of ending such culture, sad to see her follow the same path.

They are indeed. Our cricketers barring our bowlers and some like jadeja don't take strength, conditioning  and dieting seriously.

Spain 1 Belgium 1 :(

:) I think we support other teams with more dil

o jaan than ours.. Ratchanok Intanon against Tzu, GB and Belgium both for a draw, now Spain against Belgium. Reminds me of 1990s in cricket where we used to support other teams in the innumerable tri series tournaments to sneak into final via run rate as sri lanka or Australia would have thrashed us bad in group games..

Wow..that 100m semis was so close. The Chinese guy fastest among all the qualifiers for 100M finals.

Could be historic if he wins the flagship event later today

Actually we were better 20 -30 years ago. We had atheletes routinely qualifying for finals in atheletics. Anju Bobby George, PT Usha, Shiny Abraham ( 4x400 final in 84, 800 m final in 88) , Beenamol ( 2000 Olympics semifinal) etc we have regressed in that sense..

Bolt world record is 9.58.. if a Chinese can run 9.85, Indians can’t use the excuse of genetics anymore
