Tokyo 2020 Paralympics: Record 19 medals thus far!!!! Amazing

It seems we are stuck in neutral gear. One medal on the first day and nothing to show for until now. I demand atleast one gold now :hitler: At least that will save us from the ignominy of padosis in either directions getting a gold and having the last laugh on us :afraid:

My close friends blog on Lovlinas chances

https://emojisarebald.com/2021/07/27/tokyo-olympics-2021-what-are-lovlina-borgohains-chances-in-her-quarter-final-bout-match-telecast-details-timings/

Prediction

Lovlina’s recent glories, form, a height 3 inches) advantage, plus that she gets three days rest and time to acclimatize herself with Tokyo conditions, give her the edge over Chen. On top, she beat the hot inform Nadine – the first German boxer to qualify for Olympics 2021. It will be a fiercely contested match and I personally think, patriotism aside, Lovina has the edge. She has a great chance to add to India’s medal tally at Tokyo 2021, after Saikhom Mirabai Chanu’s silver medal on the opening day of the games.

Yeah if the argument is that it’s not physical enough, they can still include boxing-chess instead of chess

I guess you very well know India don't have one culture. North East India South India have much more freedom to women. So if you leave Sakshi malik the other medalists are from this region.

And it's not like boys in cities are playing sports all the time. cricket and football are only sports boys play that too if they find any space

Also India churns out around 200 close to 25 percent women IAS IPS every year. Cracking upsc is not an easy thing. They too face similar situation. And not to forget a good number of girls pursue modelling acting as career which again is not accepted by large section of society.

We indians may follow whatever culture but once government incentive start pouring  we forgot everything. Sportswomen these days get as much incentive as men like cash , government job etc.

Still far behind other cultures/societies.

How about poking the opponent's eyes while they are focussing? In defence, they dodge. the more pokes, and checkmates wins the game. No draws.

Or KitKit. Not sure if anyone know this game.

All this doesn't matter once a player is at the field. Level of competition is on the field, not off it.

Oh bhai, name some countries which restrict female participation in sports where their men face us on a regular basis? Saudi, Pakistan, Brunei, Somalia, do you think men in their country deny us medals?

Even Iran sends female shooters, maybe not wrestlers but is it really that significant when we have 10-15 proper wrestling countries (including Muslim majority ones like the Central Asian 'stans') which train their women well making them threats to the competition. In a sport like badminton, women's field is deeper, spread across more countries. Other sports where Indian women have medaled or made deep runs: weightlifting, wrestling, boxing, tennis, gymnastics. I don't see any problem with competition. And no need to mention African nations, the African ones competing for medals take pretty good care of their female athletes. Indian society/culture in this regard isn't enlightened like Scandinavia, USA, Germany that you can mock other countries.

How did Belgium become so good in hockey?

Dunno. And not just hockey, they have become impressive in football as well, ranked #1 for some time now and making deep runs in WC (denied only be eventual champ France...by the narrowest of margins), Euro. 10-15 years back nobody mentioned Belgium whilst talking about football powerhouses, just like hockey.

Missed the afternoon's boxing session. Was Mary robbed? At least that's the impression I am getting from SM. Possible, since Olympics boxing in the past (London, Rio) has seen many dodgy decisions by incompetent/biased jury.

Posted

Anyway what's done is done, Mary competing at this level at the age of 38, being mom of 3, having missed out on Olympic glory in her peak years....nothing but respect, gratitude to a remarkable national treasure.

India needs more representation in jury of all sports, period. Even in sports like cricket/hockey/chess we have too few match officials, arbiters, refs, umpires at the highest level and situation far worse in other sports. Need some of our own in those positions to pull strings, influence opinions/decisions, give some nice tit for tat treatment. Not honorable but in this cut-throat competition we must be Machiavellian, end justifies the means. Look at the Americans having 15 million swimming events (still pushing for more) to pad up their records, just because they can.
