Tokyo 2020 Paralympics: Record 19 medals thus far!!!! Amazing

In a 12-2 victory against Chelsea Sanchez in the 110-pound classification, Beggs ended a highly controversial and dramatic weekend by becoming the first transgender participant to win a Class 6A girls’ state championship in Texas high school wrestling.

“I just witnessed my sport change,” a longtime Texas wrestling coach said moments after Beggs, a 17-year-old junior at Trinity High in Euless whose transition from girl to boy began two years ago and now includes testosterone injections, won a championship. The victory was seen as equal parts unavoidable — quick and noticeably strong, he entered the tournament unbeaten in 52 matches against girls — and contentious. The University Interscholastic League, which oversees sports in Texas public schools, ordered Beggs to continue competing in the girls’ division despite heavy uproar and a lawsuit earlier this month in a Travis County district court.

Deepika kumari in action in an hour.. ranking round.. so based on the performance all 64 archers will be ranked 1 to 64 . Next on Tuesday will be elimination rounds where based on today’s ranking 2 individuals will face off against each other for a place in 32.. so no 1 will face rank 64 ,  no 2 will face rank 63, no 3 — 62.. so on.. lets see what rank deepika gets..

Much improved show from Deepika vs 2016 games. There she had finished 20th with 640 points in the rankings round.. With 663 and 9th, that's a decent performance.

In 2016, the archer with a score of 663 was ranked 3rd in individual rankings round. Here the field looks to be stronger.

She has the skills to win a medal, now about holding her nerves.

Korean archers are much better prepared. Dont think deepika has a chance. She shd have been 7th. She hit 7 in last arrow which is absolutely pathetic. She is reigning no 1 in world but only in name. All these pressure free evens makes her look like great. The moment the olympics comes she becomes flustered and screws up.. her husband is also word no 3 and he finishes above 30. Olympics is a different ball game. Not bilateral series but icc tournament

It's okay. It doesn't take anything away from her other achievements. I wouldn't be too critical given the lack of support and facilities. For e.g. Archery team does not have a mental conditioning coach when the problem has always been of handling pressure and not skills.

On rankings, in such high precision sports, world rankings are anyways ephemeral and keep changing every month. I'm still hopeful of her putting up a good show

Its not just deepika kumari

Mental weakness is a specific indian trait.

Need investment in conditioning coaches.

Very good point.. nailed it. The genius was gary kirsten who got paddy upton as mental conditioning coach before 2011 w cup. It definitely helped and surely all sports should have one.. human mind is complex and the power of conditioning is under rated.

There was agirl that changed to boy that competed with girls as per Texas rule of gender at birth and squashed competition it happened actually..

In her case, it must be the teststerone injections she received while transitioning that could be the reason. If they want to make it fair, they can have the trans olympics. But I guess olympics will become a farce then if its not already so

Apurvi chandela in action and is agai flattering to deceive. 15th in qualifying round after round 1. Top

8 goes to finals. My best bet today is mirabai chanu. Odds on to at least win a BRONZE.
