Disappointing as he wanted to complete the term at least. This age politics is confusing in BJP. They get a 88-yr old Metro man to build the party in Kerala. BSY was made a scapegoat for the corruption that helped fill the BJP national coffers in 2010-11, so they could win elections the next decade. A staunch Advani loyallist, did prove a point by creating KJP in 2013 where BJP had a dismal performance. Modi reconciled with him and asked him to rejoin and that is how BJP won Karnataka back. Now, BJP looks divived on Karnataka and there are many CM contenders. urbestfriend Posted July 26, 2021 Share Posted July 26, 2021 It was a stupid decision but it also brings more questions about democracy itself..Its like leader of the party is not selected on the basis of how many MLA's want him/her, it is the prerogative of someone sitting at the top..Mockery of democracy.. Anyway it was the time for Yeddy to go..He has done reasonably well but Corona and nepotism did him in..It seems it was a mutual agreement at the time of poaching MLAs to give him 2 years and handover...He tried hard to stall it using mutts, but didn't really succeed. But BJP too miscalculated in not cultivating friendly pontiffs in Lingayat institutions . (Yeddy's community is about 20% of Karnataka population). Whatever age "rule" they have, they can apply at the start of the term. If someone is 74 when he became CM, let him be there for a full term and then no further. Don't yank him out like this.
