There are no issues even if he gets 3 0s as it gives opportunity to other players as well in a random series such as this … Good upcoming players need to go through such series too as a part of learning experience … In the full strength line up, Ind will have other experienced players in lower middle order too Note that ppl know that he has scored 80 odd v Pak, 2 90s in Aus recently, a 60 v Eng and so on Again the current form is the concern here. He also doesn't play those 360° shots so on slower pitches, he may struggle to deliver those power hitting. As good as his power hitting is, it is not really up there with the likes of Russell or Pollard and he doesn't possess the 360 ability of Jos Buttler either. BlueBlood
I think he needs to be sent up the order to gain confidence a bit so he corrects his stance. Maybe 1 down for a couple of games. He seems to be in desperate mode and killing his game. One thing I like about him is he plays for the team and not for records and we need players like him. Link to comment

His power hitting is at the level of Russell and Pollard if not better,he is not out of form ,he has made some foolish change in his stance that limits him to go for shots,in slower surfaces its even more difficult to manufacture shots,SL is not a place to manufacture 360° shots He will have to resurrect his technique Link to comment

I don't think anyone has that. The reason he struggles sometime is because of lack of game awareness. I think in comparison to Russell, Pollard has that game awareness a lot more which is why he is so successful to MI in crunch games. Edited July 27, 2021 by Majestic Cricspin 1 Link to comment

Pandya has almost matched Pollard run for run and hits for hits in the last 3-4 years (84 6s for Pandya vs 84 for Pollard) except the current season where as @Suhaan says he changed his stance that has screwed his hitting options. Pollard infact used to struggle against anything above 142k earlier, like Russell he too was quite bad against short deliveries Pollard has tweaked in his game that is what i admire but Russell still struggles with genuine pace into his body,he can't handle genuine pace,Pandya in his devastating best matches Russell's devastating best infact looked more assured against pace ShoonyaSifar 1 Link to comment
Trichromatic
Economy of 8 while bowling. Rarely plays anything of note while batting. Harly 3-4 good innings in 33 innings he has played over 4 years. Link to comment
Lone Wolf
His bowling has gone Scott Styris level.. I don't blame him for that as his back issues don't help him to put some effort on that. He needs strength & conditioning & muscle mass to improve his back issues. Real issue is his batting. He bats at a crucial number Where failure is just not an option in T20Is especially. In a World cup the kind of knock he played vs SL will surely knock us out despite the good work done by top order. Link to comment
CodeOfWisden
He has high score of 42 in t20s, I hope he gets one 50 in the remaining two t20s, atleast have one 50 to your name if you want to be called an allrounder. Link to comment
Frustrated
His place in the test side has been already taken by shardul. If he does not perform in t20 now, his selection should not be automatic. One can't stay in the squad forever based on past performance/reputation. We saw what happened in WTC final with Bumrah. Had Siraj played in his place, we would hv got better outcome. (Not saying we would hv definitely won) Link to comment

No, shardul hasnt taken his place jadeja has. Shardul plays as bowler not all all rounder. Jadeja n sundar plays as all rounder N he didnt loose his place, his fitness isnt right for test. Kohli already the minute his fitness is up for 5 days he ll be back in test squad Link to comment

He can murder the ball if it is in the slot but struggles otherwise. Bowlers have figured him out and don't feed to his strength anymore. He doesn't have the ability to play inventive shots and disturb bowlers' line and length. Pandya seriously needs to work on his weaknesses. By now, enough analytical data must have been collected about deliveries he struggles against. The batting coach should make a list of these and work with Pandya on a strategy to counter them. If he decides to be a bowler only, then he will break down within no time. So being a batter who can bowl a bit seems like the better option for him. In which case, is he good enough to be in the team as a batsman alone? He isn't, on current evidence. For his own survival he will continue as a little bit of this and that, not being fully reliable in either discipline. Khota, Frustrated, speedheat and 3 others 2 4 Link to comment

Why should we take a call now? The remainder of the IPL is in the UAE. As is the T20 WC. Let's see how he fares in the IPL and then decide if he had to be picked it dropped. He did quite well at IPL2020 in the UAE. Link to comment
