It's one thing a fan appreciating the movie as an inspiration and a totally different thing for an actor to take credit for their success as an ex-coach , banter notwithstanding. For some of us, the "real" coach's response was befitting to the fake filmy fictional coach.

Indian channels, Libtards on SM are playing the songs of the movie as though we don't have any other way to feel proud of the team's feat. Fricking circus.

Lol @ 'take credit' and at that 'hog limelight' headline.

How about Lol at the notion that SRK needs to this for PR?

What movie is he promoting doing any of this?

To be in the news serves anything for the overworked  PR machinery . His upcoming movie   Directed by Atlee - Sanki would benefit.

Look at the headlines from a Google search of “Shahrukh women’s hockey”

Pinkvilla officially calls Shahrukh ex-Coach Kabir Khan

@coffee_rules

Pinkvilla ( not that it is a paragon of journalistic excellence) is playing along with his charade. What Pinkvilla says officially or unofficially is relevant because?

The other two headlines are balanced. That he wants the team to go for Gold. Which is the same as the other 130cr of us!

He's worked on a hockey/nationalism themed movie and the subject is likely to be close to his heart. To look for ulterior motive where none exists is giving him the said publicity you accuse him of seeking.

I don't really see the issue in this. Women's hockey is getting their due recognition. SRK is known for being sarcastic and witty. It was just a light hearted joke. I'm sure any person who acted in that film, instead of him, would've engaged in the same sarcastic humour. Of course Chak De India might not be responsible for this team's success, and it is getting hyped up because of this , but it was a major influence and inspiration back then in 07. Right now the entire team would be hoping to replicate the reel achievements in real life, the public would've taken inspiration from that film.

There is really nothing to discuss or get hyped up about. Of course people are going to compare any achievements that occur in real life, to a film that depicts similar achievements. That's how the public is, especially in India.

I really don't care for SRK, or any of the Khans. But ,he is the least of the 3 evils. Mediocre actor though, throughout most of his career.

It's banter. People joke.

Humour/Joking around may be an alien and difficult to comprehend concept in the USA, but it's acceptable behaviour here. :dontknow:

In the US they say "just kidding" after failed attempts at humour.

Lets agree to disagree on that. Usually Amer and Shawrook are more politically inclined. Both have mass influence and can easily sway attention. Even in this tweet, a lot of stupid fans were like "I love you", "you look handsome"(this coming from men :wp15:)

Aamir is more radical and conservative. He's also as a person more bitter, and shady.

Of course Salman is the worst of the lot.

SRK is the least of the Khans, including Saif as well. Not counting other Khans like Irrfan or Dilip who are much better, both in acting and as a person.

As an actor Aamir has been the most experimental and profilic of the lot, using his maximum potential. SRK never utilitised his maximum potential after Swades and Chake De, and fell into a shell. He certainly had abilities, but never used them, and went into overacting whenever starring romantic films. And nowadays when he tries to experiment, it comes out very cringey and awful.

You are not following closely enough. There are plenty of movies from shawrook which has political elements in it. This is not the 90s with feel good love stories. Lets take chak de for example. the hero misses a shot and india loses to padosis. he gets accused of pakistani sympathiser because his name if khan. I don't know if there are people still like that but lets give it to him. So there is religious prejudice element. Then there is women empowerment, feminism element. There are real issues that women face but playing a sport is a privilege not a right. There's also a racial element with North east Indians. So why would an established actor mire himself with social issues when the whole point of watching movies is entertainment. Thats why I say govinda is more entertaining. if you have to pick a khan or a kapoor stick to the past century. After 00, its a downhill slide. out of the big 3, i prefer slaman. he just does his bit and leaves us alone. doesnt give bhashans to us through his movies and tvatter

@Real McCoy Chak de was directed by Shimit Amin and produced by Aditya Chopra.

Do you think SRK's inputs to the plot would be considered then? Yash Raj is a big production house and SRK and then go back a long way, stating with Darr.

Why wouldn't an actor want to essay this kind of a role? It's challenging and a break from the romantic hero archetype.

You can't accuse SRK of giving a bhashan for a movie he didn't produce/direct.

I agree Aamir and SRK are more politically inclined, though in recent years SRK has kept quiet after the whole intolerance debacle . Aamir however still does politically inclined stuff, like meeting Erdogan, saying my children will only follow Islam, despite my wife being Hindu. Having a fall-out with her, preferring Fatima Sana Sheikh over Sanya Malhotra for future movies(both Dangal girls), having an affair with her, leading to a divorce with Kiran etc. Aamir is worse.

As for Salman, doesn't matter if he's not as political, he's one of the worst in bollywood as a human being. He's a pedophile, a narcissist, an abuser, also a Mafia don. He has so many cases and accusations against him . Jus because he's not as political, doesn't mean he's a better human being. Aamir and SRK are better. He's done horrible things. Harrassing ladies, silently funding terrorism(inside source of mine, my cousin's friend's contact was an accountant for him, didn't report anything because of client confidentially), etc.

What you say about Salmon maybe true. But we are not judging his behavior as a human here but as a mass influencer. I would say most of the ones on bollywood are quite shady not just salmon.

But he did act in it. So part of the blame lies with him as we don't get to see what Amen and Chopda have to say about it. Most of the "love yous" are not to amen and chopda. shawrook is a mass influencer and his bhashan has a direct impact on the viewers. Like I maintain always, the whole movie industry is garbage and it will only get worse.

As someone who regretfully spent years spewing anti SRK hatred online, I don’t think it’s a big deal.

I mean it tells you how times gave changed as well. This is SRK 101. This is his sense of humour and cuteness that many went mushy over. I don’t think it’s mal intentional.

There's nothing shameless about this, it was just a light hearted post, nothing to get your knickers in a twist.

The OP is not exactly smart and has extreme bias against North India, bollywood, shahrukh etc.

I have seen a trend here on ICF, posters really hate the all successful, superstars who gave it all and are now reaping benefits of their sweat.

While moderately successful  , or  talented people with a questionable work ethic are loved beyond all measures, just shows the general attitude and insecurity. Maybe it's just a defense mechanism.

It's called "Tall Poppy Syndrome".
