Kohli’s dismissals in this series

Not only is he limited technique-wise, he is also brainless. You can predict his mode of dismissal from a mile away. And Moeen hasn't even joined the party, came close once at the end of day 3, will get some cheap wickets of his bunny in remaining 2 tests if their quicks are in generous mood.

Almost every over Kohli has a useless waft at a good length or slightly short delivery on 6th stump line. Not a scoring shot, not a defensive shot, just a pointless 'hang the bat out there and hope for the best'. Tbh he has been extremely lucky to score 100 odd runs till now.

And people compare him to legends like Sachin and Smith

Trait of great players is that they manage to score runs despite lack of form, confidence, fitness etc.

One can have a glaring technical issue yet score runs on the back of grit, patience, discipline. Let us see if Kohli is up to the task in Oval, flattest track in Eng, against a second-string English attack, Let us see if he can at least show some discipline and not be a pokemon.

At least in Eng, people should not even compare him to Ganguly and Mr. Fixer (Azhar), let alone Dravid, SRT, Smith, etc.

He is usually very disciplined in sustaining his constant broadcasting of BC MC BC MC to the opposition. needs to shut his gob and play some cricketing shots instead.

He showed good discipline and judgement till he reached 50 and after that, went back to old habits.

Here comes Mr Expert.

This is the same guy who scored 600 runs last time, where was all this technical analysis at that time.

If someone looks at this post without context he might think you are talking about some 20 averaging  batsman.

The balls on you guys :hysterical:

Why don't Windies just select holding, lara and richards again, they all have had great averages at some point no. Time moves on unfortunately.

Kohli is a 20 averaging batsman in his last 10 tests, that post is very accurate in describing the current reality

Then counter him...  Not shamelessly going on about how great he is.  If this is the best you got then better shut your trap..

But that 600 was 3+ years ago. Since then it's been all downhill! For how long is that 600 going to be employed as a get out of jail free card?

I think @Gollum's criticism is fair here.

Do we not reserve the right to question his performances after repeated no shows?

How is this statement linked to his performance in past 2 years?

Criticise all you want based on his last 2 years, but the above post makes absolutely zero sense, you don't pile up 27 test centuries with limited technique and brainless batting.

Absolutely ridiculous post. No amount of counter argument justifies this.

Read it again, until you realise that it isn't about the past two years but it's about his whole career.

Batsman with limited technique can still have some great series. Brainless comment might be the frustration from his failures but limited technique is not that preposterous to suggest

@Adamant Your post reminds me (in a good way) of some really profound poetry by the ever affable Wasim Barelvi

It's preposterous.

"Some great series" is yet another insult to a batsman of his stature.

Sachin doesn't have a single 500+ runs series he has 4 or 5. Not comparing them, just telling you that he isn't just another average joe.

Yes because sachin played mostly 2 and 3 matches series. He twice scored over 400 in england, including 428 in just 3 matches. Kohli has mainly be playing 5 match series. nice try though

There have been many many who had golden runs of 3-4 years, yusuf still has record. Younis had an arguably bigger peak than kohli. However the true greats had more consistency and peak

Sanjay Manjrekar also had a 600+ runs series. Many limited batsmen had some peak years and series

Virat has scored 500 + run 4 times in just 4 matches, so yet another silly excuse.

Also, Sachin has played quite a few 4 and 5 match series, will try to list them.

He lacked the domination factor.
