Virat on the other hand has got top class players playing for him in RCB. How is a team of Dhoni, Raina, Faf, Bravo, Raidu etc still beating a team like RCB everytime? Obviously he is not this magician people make him out to be but he is very good. Never 2 doubts about that. As a player he has been a liability for sometime now regardless of what people think. Kohli the player would hands down walk in to any team in the world but should be kept away from power. In LOIs, defensive captaincy and ability to choke the opposition matters and Dhoni is absolute master of that. Kohli is an attacking captain and good when bowlers have to take wickets but in process he will let them leak runs too. His LOI captaincy is extremely poor, especially when he plays for RCB as it seems no one is bothered with that but while he captains for India in LOIs, people do bother and he stays on his toes, still he is bad not as bad as for RCB. I always judge captain n coach on challenges n utilization of resources. Look at the team dhoni has and what he has done with CSK CSK doesn't play wrist spinner in XI a norm CSK doesn't have explosive players, the ones like moeen or raina have extreme limitations now CSK doesn't have someone very quick like lockie, milne , archer CSK craps on the theory of young players in t20 Dhoni at times dnt even use some of the main bowlers They basically crap on most norms of this format Dhoni has 2 things in his team experience n options n the way he uses him this nothing short of brilliant. In the history of IPL CSK has had one bad season just 1 and in that also they werent at the bottom of the table . They have great owners who let Dhoni n fleming run the show and those 2 guys have experienced player whom u dnt need to tell much. Listen to CSK players they say they dnt have team meetings n all. It is crazy that CSK is still not tapping into the potential batting depth they have got... But still are winning consistently. He has won us games with likes of Munaf Patel washed up Zaheer, RP Singh, Vinay Kumar in the past something Kolli can't even dream of. Kohli is definition of a mediocre captain. Rahane is the GOAT test captain technically anyway. Seriously good captain. But sample size is small. Regardless, he is undoubtedly a formidable leader. Then kohli Only test matters. No amount of world cup wins can supersede test series victories and number 1 ranking status. Msd is below them. He treated Jadeja like a part-timer as well at Melbourne. he never loses though. yes i agree there were times where he lack the mental capacity to pick the right bowlers in terms of matchups. he should have finished off the tail in brsibane way earlier with nattu who can bowl yorkers at will. he waited till the last moment. Overall, he is still much better than any of other captains. There is no quit in him and we just dont lose when he leads us. he even magically bats better as captian rofl.
