jf1gp_1 Posted October 21, 2021 Posted October 21, 2021 How much of an inferiority complex do cricket administrators of SA have that Temba Bavuma is captain and opening in a T20 game that too when ABDV and faf are sitting at home twiddling thumbs
Majestic Posted October 21, 2021 Posted October 21, 2021 Skill wise, Jamemann Malan is also a better T20 batsman than Bavuma.
AuxiliA Posted October 21, 2021 Posted October 21, 2021 They have destroyed their cricket through the quota system. Reservations are OK at domestic levels but the International team should only be selected on merit. Suhaan 1

Bavuma is a quota pick.

You know, unlike some people who just like to pretend they care about humanity over sports but then pretend not to ubderstand why south africia is doing this

Blacks are getting richer. They are getting better jobs and education. They are excelling in sports and entertainment industry. As some 'guy' from an other thread would say- Where's the persecution black people?

That's normal human behaviour, the captain of the side should always be a worthy man. I am quite sure that Temba himself is embarrassed on leading the side when he isn't good enough to even make the reserves. South African cricket will be down in the dumps bcoz of this and yes you can't justify destroying an organization just bcoz you wanted to improve racial balance, lol. Norman and sorak 1 1
gattaca Posted October 21, 2021 Posted October 21, 2021 It’s same as reservations in India. speedheat 1
jf1gp_1 Posted October 23, 2021 Author Posted October 23, 2021 Sadly for SA Buvama is fit for opener against Australia
Serpico Posted October 23, 2021 Posted October 23, 2021 Looks like a good captain, loved the way he defended low score. Much better than clueless Dekock

They can revisit the quota system every 5 years or so and readjust. But it is controlled by political elements. Votes are based on caste. So it is not going away. We are talking about reservation for millions of jobs, millions of admissions not like admission for 11 people where the merit should be rewarded. Having said that SA hsa given us some great colored players like Ntini, Rabada, Philander.

Reservations are never good, period Many people from ultra poor background has settled in USA, Gulf or do a good job in INdia itself. Original intention was that. But they didn't revisit that every now and then. IN some cases they doubled down.Anyway this is a subject for another day. My point was it is not the same as SA quota. Faf should have played in place of Bavuma. Bavuma is probably okay in one dayers. He is averaging 49 there. Also can't believe he has played 44 tests with such a poor average.

If reservations couldn’t achieve in 70 years independence Don’t think it will achieve anything. Jobs might be ok since private sector has many jobs now but what about education reservations they are bad no other way around it. Not everyone who doesn’t qualify for reservations is rich there are poor families too. They are denied opportunities. Edited October 24, 2021 by gattaca

Hiring for merit and winning trophies brings bigger happiness to the country. Even more money too. Edited October 24, 2021 by kepler37b

If they needed to send across the message, Rabada would have been a much better choice. They have the example of Siya Kolisi, their Rugby Team captain, a well deserved and earned honor.

He is there on merit but how will benching Nortje and playing junior dala ever be good for SA cricket. Tell me post world cup would you be fine if in the name of promotion we made Sanju Samson or Sarfaraz khan captain.
