Mesky99 Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 India batting first both Rahul and Rohit should look to unsettle Shaheen and Imad, hopefully they take advantage of the loose floaty deliveries of Shaheen, if he then goes short Rohit should pull him, a quick start early on Pak would eventually go to Plan B with hafeez and Malik in the middle orders, this brings pant, sky and pandya into the game against their spinners, my only fear is Imad may get some dots balls early on and Rohit could loose patience hitting one in the air, sweeping Imad early should be the way to go in my opinion, he is nothing special but a darter with a dodgy action, treat him like a dibbly dobbler who gets the ball to come in with his action, one from Rohit or Rahul should be ultra aggressive early on, if they both play still the 7th over then sky should come in next.
Sandeep99 Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 I fully expect India to happily end powerplay at 40-0 even if it means slow start. Plenty of firepower to make up for it later. Rohit somehow gets into mood against Pakistan and he may destroy their young leg spinner Shadab if he stays that long.
Lord Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 Rahul will go for it. Rohit will be sedate. There's a chance Kishan might play as well
New guy Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 (edited) Need lefties like ishan and pant to take on Imad in powerplay. But doubt management will be so inventive as to use them like that Kohli against Imad will be comical Edited October 22, 2021 by New guy Ankit_sharma03 1
sandeep Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 The word is out on the Indian batting - it is deadly against pace, but the vaunted top order is not as effective against spin and slower bowlers. Guys like Surya, Ishan, Hardik can maul the spinners, but Rohit, Virat and even KL to some extent, aren't as dangerous. OP has hit upon a non-trivial question that can potentially turn this game. Not that complicated. Shaheen is the only "danger" early on. He is a decent bowler, but it is more about him being a super tall left armer that our top order is not very used to facing. SKY, Pant, Hardik, Rohit - they are all capable of hitting 6s of any of the Pak spinners at will. There is absolutely nothing special about them. Sunil_narine024 1

Hopefully our management is proactive with the batting order, there could potentially be more than 8 overs of spin by Pakistan if their seamers get a hammering early on by Rohit and Rahul. No better scenario for the likes of pant, sky and pandya against Pak spinners after a quick start by India, Pak will definitely panic.

maniac Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 Afridi first 2 overs will be critical. Imad can be negotiated. He is threatening against foreign teams who try to slog sleep him or over attack him. Afridi should be negotiated carefully. Play him on merit and he will give some loose balls. No Kishen against Pakistan please we need proper technical bats to play out the first few overs.
zen Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 (edited) 100 from Rohit coming up. The guy is such a genius that he needs to play 30 balls in T20s before he can look to make an impact (Russell could be laughing at this) KL is one of the best openers (stats padding makes you best) Kohli is a beast in LOIs (cutting down risks in a format which encourages you to take risks makes you a different type of beast) and so on … Edited October 22, 2021 by zen

In middle send pandya (as krunal n imad are same bowlers , so hardik can hit him easy and he has in past) pant and sky , all 3 can take down their both spinners. Either their 8 overs will go very expensive or they look to go part timers. ALthough those part timers hafeez n malik can be dangerous with chucking Shadab batting has improved a lot but bowling has declined Edited October 22, 2021 by Ankit_sharma03 New guy 1

putrevus Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 I would open with a leftie. Both Rohit and Rahul along with Kohli are sitting ducks against that indipper. That guy Shaheen did not have that indipper when he started out but looks like he has it now.
