What would be India's most optimal bowling combination & strategy in power play against NZ ?

Bhuvi shouldn't even play. As a big fan of him, I say this with disappointment.

 

Bumrah may not bowl 2 overs in PP. Bumrah+Shami+Varun may work better in the PP.

In 4/5 games Kohli used Thakur in the opening two overs.

The selectors did a moronic job by providing a Dhoniconda team to apace friendly aggressive captain. If plan was to play three pacers team needed to have 6 pacers and few spinners as jadeja is one of the spinner. That has severely limited our options. With dew and mostly day and night matches we cannot really play many spinners either.

 

The approach should be to take wickets to reduce runs. This is the team I would select and the batting order can be adapted as per need

Assuming Hardik cannot bowl. It should be Ashwin plus Shami or Chahar plus VC. I do not rate VC much so I would prefer Ashwin. 
 

powerplay should be one over bumrah, 2 from shami 2 from thakur one from ashwin.

 

middle overs jadeja 4 overs 2 from ashwin 1 from shami and 1 from thakur.

 Remaining 6 overs would  be 3 from bumrah and one each from shami thakur ashwin. If one of them has a bad day we are screwed.

 

Bottom line we have to take wickets and this lineup os best and bats till 9. Even shami and bumrah can tonk a few. I do not care about vc. Chahar is aggressive but not sure if he can bowl in power play or death.

It is surprising how every fan on their own are coming to the same conclusion but our team management always makes the same mistake. Next game ishan will replace sky most probably thakur will replace bhuvi but virat kohli will stick with varun. From my limited viewing varun is a darter and inexperienced. He does not seem to force a wicket like ashwin.

VC is a lottery if you ask me. He can probably do okay against SENA countries.  Even that is not guarantee. VC is a horrible fielder. No skill with bat meaning his bowling has to be top class and he has to be a wicket taker.

Seriously missing Siraj with both Bhuvi and Shami not doing well. Picking Shami in T20 just defies any logic. Even Umesh is better than him in T20 who has at least bowled some match winning stuff in IPL.

Good positive changes with Kishan, Shardul and Ash.

 

Definitely improves bowling and strengthens and lengthens the batting order.

 

Hitman and KL deserve another chance. In any case Kohli wont change the opening pair after one poor match.

I would have dropped kohli ,shami ,bhuvi and rohit from the line up . What's the use of having these has beens in the team when we ain't gonna win in any case ,at the least the young players will play without fear and will be more entertaining to watch .

The whole t20 needs a restructuring. Proper t20 players like nattu, sundar, ishan etc. 

 

For the Sunday game ,I'll open with kishan and Raul ,Rohit goes down the order as a death hitter ,sky over kohli at 1 down .

I'd stick to VC ,ashwin is worse than him ,jadeja is useless ,we are stuck with so many useless players
