At best, I will call this a Toss - Toss world cup

This is nothing like T20. I havent felt one game like T20. The bowling team is absolutely has no chance. Here are some statistics. 

 

Team batting second have won by 9-0 between big teams. An average balls to spare in all games played so far is 18 (3 overs seriously??). I am going to put up my theory. 

 

9-0 in fav of team batting Second so far in this world cup. 

 

SA vs Aus - Aus won by 5 wkts (2 balls to spare)

WI vs Eng - Eng won by 6 wkts (70 balls to spare)

BD vs SL - SL won by 5 wkts  (7 balls to spare - High scoring)

Ind vs PK - Pk won by 10 wkts (13 balls to spare)

WI vs SA - SA won by 8 wkts (10 balls to spare)

NZ vs PK - PK won by 5 wkts (8 balls to spare)

BD vs Eng - Eng won by 8 wkts (35 balls to spare)

SL vs Aus - Aus won by 8 wkts. (18 balls to spare)

 

Warm-up games between big team-

 

Pk vs WI- Pak won by 7 wkts 

NZ vs AUS - Aus won by 7 wkts

Ind vs Eng - Ind won by 7 wkts

Ind vs Aus - Ind won by 8 wkts

Pak vs SA - SA won by 6 wkts

 

Theory for why these results:

 

10 hours of sunlight hitting the grounds. During the day time, it gets dry. So wkts are dry and ball stops and doesnt come on the bat easily. So yes very fast bowler gets obvious advantage because ball stops after pitching. Now we have observed that as time passes and dew provides moist on the surface causing surface to tighten up where ball comes nicely on the bat. I am not taking anything away from Pak team. Pak played well but above stats are not lying at all.

 

Back in the days when we played D/N matches with Pak in Sharjah, results are again 6-2 in fav of batting 2nd. But same teams when played day ODIs, winning odd is 13-7 in fav of team batting first.

 

This is turning out to be Toss-Toss world cup at best to me.

Yes, this seems like a farce. Only our team is capable of changing this complete dominance of chasing teams - by losing when batting second also!

Lol even if Kohli wins the toss he might get a brainfade and ask to bat first. So winning the toss doesn't mean **** if captaincy and decisions are poor.

This happened with Bongs. They won the toss and choose to bat against Rngland.They wer 24/3 by end of Power play

Anyone else with me that the format of this T20 world cup need to change? I would love to see each team from their respective group playing against each other twice in league stage like Champions league football. Then the top 2 teams progress to semi finals.

You are asking to cut the IPL window. Thats unfair. if its a tournament ever 4 years like odi wc, Then your suggestion may have takers in BCCI.

Lmao. When I talked about tosses affecting games in tests, no one bats an eyelid. Toss makes a humongous difference. 

 

Just cause india were good enough to whoop England's ass twice thisbyear despite losing toss doesn't mean toss won't matter. 

 

But toss can be overcome if conditions remain similar for most days. 

 

In t20 on slow pitches like these ones, toss matters a lot. 

 

We need to pick PACE BOWLERS not trundlers. Pace with variation is key. 

 

And if our batman are going going tuk tuk to 150 then forget about winning. 180 plus is winning score and even englund won't get that much if they batted first.

Today, windies were 48/3 after 10 overs against mighty bowling attack of Bangladesh. England Australia and West indies, India newzealand Pakistan, south Africa- looks like The side which bats second wins the match

^ Bangladesh Srilanka Afghanistan, they are at same league, they can cause upset when they play above by bowling first but they will definitely win against each other by chasing

I think wc and wt20 should adopt the eliminator model-IPL for knockouts 

 

I am sure SA would have won at least one World Cup if they had a second chance

it was there. KKR basically won all the toss in playoffs and thus reached final.

 

Also teams are much more equal there so games went to last over

 

CSK were just too good in final and rightly went for big score as buffer
