Monty Panesar has backed the general stance taken by Rafiq but i don't think has specified specific racism he faced. Nasser Hussain and Mark Ramprakash, both with one Indian parent, likewise have thrown their full weight behind Rafiq. The black player Maurice Chambers has also come forward. The enquiry on racism in cricket has been contacted by 1000 people in a call for evidence in recent days. that is a massive response. i get some will point out this seems to be a problem suffered by Muslims only. that's not true. Muslims probably do get it worse and more often. Indians are better at integrating for sure.

Asim just said the nickname used for Pujara was "racist" or at least had racist undertones! I don't remember the last time we've reported such incidents from the UK. ever in fact. It's usually the big bad Aussies & their m****gate that ties up our attention

I remember when gurinder sandhu used to bowl pies. He is related to my close friend. I have met him personally. 

There were 2 state players that would talk amongst themselves about how bad gurinder is. They even would pass racist comments about him being punjabi etc. However, they were scared of him. Gurinder is almost 100 kg and he would literally slam both of them at the same time if they tried to provoke him. 

 

I feel like size intimidates them. Even better, if you are good at dishing it back verbally and stand up to them, they cower like pussies. You need to stand up. Always.. From my personal experience too. I myself am quite a big guy. Not a word is uttered to me when I I riled up. I get the odd sledge here and there but it's more to do with ability. They will always refrain from being racist directly as they know I would most likely kick their ass. They are genuinely afraid of Indians with size. However, they love to pick on the meek pipsqueak ones unfortunately. However if you stand up to them, they back down, regardless of size. 

 

Aussies think they are tough. They really aren't. They are pussies. Honest opinion. Most smoke pot and do drugs. Ink some tattoos and they try to elicit an image of a tough guy. Far from the truth. 

 

Brits are no different except they are even more meek when you confront them. Garry balance that fat lardass pie eating piece of trash needs to be buried.

When in group, Tamils gangup, Mallus gangup, Upites gangup, Bongs gang up. Imo, If racism is not institutional, then favouritism isnt be confused with Racism.  Regionalism and favouritism is some how presented as racism by weak people.
 

Saying that my estimate is some English people specially uneducated class working behind office desk at max 1.7 times of minimum wage rate @35+ age still have this that they are somehow better then non whites but I think its their frustration. They just want to hangon to something which can keep them feeling good. But they know that non English person around them are moving ahead.

Oh in australia they have been ruthlessly sacked left right and centre. I lost a couple of jobs in the past to Indian or Asian migrants. But I don't complain about it like these bogan hillbillies. Competition is tough. The same old uncouth Aussies that occupy government positions have a bit of a superiority complex. They always whine about how these Indians and Asians take their jobs. Well? Instead of complaining, work hard and upskill yourself to compete with them.

it's just very hard being a brown kid growing up in the UK in the 80s. the far right National Front were known for p%ki bashing. as a 5 year old kid playing on the streets, just the sight of white skinheads would make me sh%t my pants. that leaves scars at a tender age. then you progress through life and realise you are different. nobody on tv looks like you. it's just the constant drip drip of feeling 'othered', inferior, not good enough. in my opinion the worst possible thing you can do to a kid is take away his/her confidence. meanwhile the classic asian parent response to all this is to push their kids to nail their studies. in some ways this actually makes things worse. asian parents, all parents in my opinion, should prioritise sports, and some form of physical aggression. i think that makes a big difference. anyway, i don't want to make out it is hell for asians in UK. it is not. you can be very successful, and there are huge numbers without a racist bone in their body. look at the UK govt cabinet, Rishi Sunak, Priti Patel, and Sajid Javid hold the highest positions of office after Boris Johnson. i have always seen racism as just one more thing one has to overcome to succeed in life. it doesn't effect me at all today and hasn't for a long time. i agree with you, standing up for yourself is the best way.
