Hope not, people do change but going by his batting style, (he was solid but patient and cautious batsman ) , his approach will be to prefer ' line and length ' medium pacers .

Most Indian ex-cricketers have great love for this kind of not-too-tall medium pacers.

 

Once they enter the squad, they are often played as specialist bowlers too.

 

3 slower ball specialist were included in the T20I squad and all were played together while all the quicker pacers sat out. This is how the ball rolls in Indian cricket teams.

T20I is different. You can get away with it. I agree Avesh should have played but on those pitches it doesnt make much difference

 

In Tests we have been playing 3 quicks together for a while. 4th is trundler because of batting. If one of quick can develop batting it will be ideal

Difficult to say. When he was captain drafted in RP, VRV and Munaf (when they were quick). Also as U-19 coach oversaw Nagarkoti and Mavi. Based on his coaching hitherto, I do have grave concerns.

OP's fears confirmed lol Not that i want scatter guns in the side. But it seems like  he is adopting 'saftey first' approach going in with trundlers with experience.

While the start has been disastrous, I remain hopeful. Sreesanth, Munaf, RP Singh, VRV, Ishant - they all had their debut under Dravid's short captaincy tenure (despite mediocre domestic numbers).

Coach doesn't have much say in selection and except Sreesanth, most of those guys had good to great FC numbers at that time.
