a lot of these WI players look like a million bucks, but are highly inconsistent.

Great talent for T20I flat pitches. A good franchise player. Apart from hitting ability don’t see much else.

Yes. Pant mentioned in the post match interview that he was happy to see him bat as he is going to play for DC.

He has improved a lot this year especially against spin. Seeing his progess since the Abu Dhabi T10 tournament. He will be more most dangerous middle order batsman in this year's IPL. Once again reiterates the boon of playing maximum leagues around the world & hone your skills.

Add Odean & you ll not only get hitters but a glut of very good seam bowling all rounders as well. WI are dark horses for this year's WC.

They ll remain in dark....aussie conditions dnt suit them coz in longer grounds running between wkts as well . They are hit or bust which wont work in Australia. N pretty much most of them have hard length issues and wrist spin to.

that's what it seems, but their arrogance in turning down 1s/2s and looking only for big hits can/will cost them

If your game is dependent on getting 2-4 big hits per over than you have to overlook singles. Since the batsman expect to dispatch at least a couple of balls in his ark to the boundary, he has to wait for those balls as well. If he takes a single, the other batsman may not be in similar hitting form and not take advantage of any loose ball bowled. The other batsman might take a single on a ball that you could have dispatched for a boundary, and you have to start again in the over. That is why they sacrifice singles. 

 

Singles, which can be like dots in a high scoring game, can work if both batsmen have similar hitting capabilities, are in similar form, and look forward to taking on a particular bowler (for e.g. if a leg spinner is bowling, a left hander may prefer to keep strike).

yes, and that's why one needs batters will multiple gears who can all switch to 150+ SR if needed but would generally go at 135-140 SR. hard to achieve, but this is the most reliable strategy

 In the last 5 years  batting positions 4 to 7  with strike rate of 140 plus  (min 50 balls). Just 2 west indies players. They rely on a lot of cameos.  Even if 2 cameos go missing they are in trouble. On the other hand teams like India don't rely on cameos as much. They rely on big innings. England balances between both. Middle of the road scores.  At the end of the day none of this strategy sustainable.  You have to adapt.

WI has many very talented players, particularly in T20 format but they lack a good captain and team spirit. Can someone tells my what exactly Pollard is in the team for ?

for his belly. he has one of the bigger ones in int'l cricket.
