Rohit sharma- when you go to Australia, you need someone with shot making ability and Sanju Samson definitely fits that criteria

On our last tour to Aus in Dec 2020, Samson had the following scores in the 3 match T20 series:   23, 15 & 10.    And this while batting at No.3 with all the time to build his inning on flattest pattas.  If Rohit thinks he will be a match winner in Aus, Good Luck to him.:nice:

Since then he's had his best IPL season, so maybe he's evolved and become better? In any case with Kohli, Pant and SKY out, who else do we have as middle order options? Manish Pandey? Shahrukh Khan/ Samad/ Abhishek are relatively new and may not have the time to be ready for the 2022 T20 WC

Yeah Samson is not a bad option.  But he needs to make it count now.  He is seasoned now not that young anymore.  He failed massively in Sri lanka last year.  Upto him to make this chance count.  Same goes for Kishan as well although he has done better than Sanju so far.  Maybe Rohit Dravid will bring best out of Sanju

Tbf Samson doesn't have weakness vs pace so that's always a good sign. He plays bounce well believe it or not. He is weak vs spin. In australia spin doesn't work much unless you are a wristie. Wrist spin us dangerous on any pitch yes. That's where Samson will have problems. Guys like hasaranga is a huge problem.

if anything he did well, scores shudnt be seen all time

All games he was send to up the scoring and show intent, he shud have been backed but wasnt . The logic of conditions shud come if he looked uncomfortable which he didnt

No doubt about his range of shots against pace  except may be between shoulder & head high pacy stuff .

Issue is against quality spin. All teams will bring their best spinners when he comes into bat. That's the weak point plus very inconsistent so far.

But logically right thing to do as we have still 7-8 months . If fails again in that time , you can move on , if he comes good a very good option for Aus.

Still feel he should play as per bowlers - If best spinner of opposition is bowling take single , rotate and wait for end of his 2 overs spell, then cash in on when others bowl.

he showed consisteny last yr

In SMA he avg 75 with a s/r of 141

In IPL he avg 40 with 136 s/r

I think he is at a stage now where he understands his game better , rest players like Samson needs great backing. Rohit wud understand since he went through something similar

In the 3rd T20 against Aus (Dec 2020), he failed to read Swepson.  And got out cheaply in his 1st over.    Other 2 matches, he got out to pace without scoring much.    So, overall , I think he has weakness against anything and everything.   Will be glad if he proves me wrong this time though.

Rohit Sharma falling into the classic trap of assuming he can predict success by watching a batsman's style of play. It's hubris.

RGS would do well to keep his head down and work quietly with the team he's given

Vada pav probably believes in lazy elegance. Inconsistency is ok for him. Not surprised though.  1st half of his own career has been like that.
