Recommended Posts

Starting with 2009, match was against England, he scored 25 off 35 to lose India an easy chase.

2016 Group stage vs. NZ- Scored 0 in another low chase. Everyone else failed though.

2016 Semi - Final: Conceded 48 off 4. India failed to defend 193.

Another important World t20 matches where he sucked.

2010. In two matches vs. Aus and WI, he conceded 65 off 4 overs before getting dropped.

Tried hard to lose this match, fortunately couldn't. - Scorecard

That was totally on *ing freaking Dhongi, Yuvraj was in form & on song from 07/08 right till WC 2011 & yet for some inexplicable reason he promoted a complete rookie up the order!

yes he was no.9 then batting below Bhajji then. Imagine Bhuvi coming in at 2 down lol

Also bowled well in those games.

Can't blame him for 2009 atleast

Jadeja was a dud in T20s before sure but now he is not. He has improved significantly. He can bowl 4 overs better than any part timer and can bat reasonably well. His fielding is a big plus. Also it's not like his substitutes(ARs) are doing any better than him.

In the last one year he has been strongly backed by 3 different TMs (Kohli-Shastri, Rohit-Dravid and CSK). Everyone isn't blind.

Jadeja was awful for many years but at this point, we cannot afford to drop him. His batting has become standard now and so is his hitting ability, the only thing for him is that he needs to bat a little higher than 7 and he is getting it now.

So, this is a smart move by captain and TM. Both Axar and Sundar don't possess the T20I batting game like current version Jadeja and their IPL strike rates in last two sessions tells us all we have to know because you get 14 games to showcase what you have over there.

Ultimately, point here is that Jadeja fits into the role of genuine all rounder and can bat at any of 5,6 or 7.

Axar, Sundar and Deepak Chahar are competing for no.8 position with bat. Sundar in T20Is can't bat at 5,6. In ODIs, you can put him there but in T20Is his batting has to be hidden at 8.

Hope he doesn't revert back to taking singles in 18th 19th over. Today game was in the bag when he started attacking on a good batting deck.  Hope his inning was a change in approach either on his own or by the instruction from the management.  ALso he should try bowling in the power play to rotate the bowlers better in death overs. Almost  all spinners bowl there. Even part timers like Maxewll.
