CSK 0/3

MI looks to be getting to 0/3 today (even if they somehow salvage a win, their performances this season so far have been very disappointing)

Currently both are occupying 2 of the last 3 spots.

Do these teams need to rethink their team leadership? Or do they need to rejig their batting lineups?

Rohit Sharma appears to be a competent T20 captain, but that is about all he does these days... rarely performs with the bat.

CSK, despite shifting captaincy, is still remote controlled by Dhoni and you just can't take the ghost of Dhoni out of any decisions until you decisively remove him from the team.

MI has assembled a poor team. Bowling is almost a joke with Bumrah bowling worst than those jokes.

CSK is still a decent squad.

Note: Its a lottery cricket. Even poor teams can win the damn thing.

Yes, as Bumrah's bowling in Tests has improved, his bowling in T20s has regressed. Now, he is very predictable for T20s.

They aren't the same teams after big auction.

Yes, but team leadership and major players are the same

CSK: Dhoni, Jadeja, Rayudu, Uthapa, Gaikwad, Bravo, Moeen

MI: Rohit, Ishan, Pollard, Bumrah, SKY

CSK bowling looks clueless without Chahar.

MI tried a gamble, invested in Archer for an (uncertain) future, and got poor bowlers like Sams.

Maybe Hangargekar and the return of Chahar can change things for CSK, but MI don't seem to have a way out unless Sharma or Kishan find form

Sams just took some attention away from Bumrah, but Bumrah was absolute rubbish too. He has become too predictable in T20s now. As his Test bowling improves, his T20 bowling has regressed. Of course, I will any day take improved Test bowling over T20 bowling.

Milne (ok can be expensive), bravo, Santner, Jadeja are decent bowlers for Eye-pee-yell.Only one pacer is a gamble: Mukesh/Tushar/xyz. Not denying that they have average bowling lineup though.

Mumbai also have Bumrah, Mills, and will have Archer by next year. Murugan is decent as well.

Bumrah> Chahar

Mills> Milne

Archer< Bravo

Murugan> Jadeja

Both are ageing teams and CSK have become a retirement home on wheels.

If you don't refresh and bring in fresh hunger/talent you become stale and tired.

Happens to all teams in all sports. The skill is knowledge when to rejuvenate and innovate.

They can still reverse MI's fortunes by following this advice lol

He was like that only when he won the other IPL trophies... maybe put on an extra pound or two. Honestly, it doesn't matter much.

Kohli has been fit as a fiddle, but won nothing in IPL or for India.

Experts, do these teams still have a comfortable chance to quality? Curious to know how many more nails it would take to seal their fate?

You’d need 8 wins in most cases to qualify. Sometimes 7 can get you there but Unlikely with 10 team IPL

so basically both teams have to go 8-3 here on to have a chance to qualify
