Austin 3:!6 Posted April 25, 2022 Posted April 25, 2022 So these are the 3 prolific left handed batsmen India has produced in past 3 decades. But how do you rate them and who is better among the three? Statistics Ganguly Tests: Matches - 113 Runs - 7217 Avg - 42.17 Centuries - 16 ODIs: Matches - 311 Runs - 11363 Avg - 41.02 Centuries - 22 Yuvraj Tests: Matches - 40 Runs - 1900 Avg - 33.92 Centuries - 3 ODIs: Matches - 304 Runs - 8701 Avg - 36.55 Centuries - 14 Dhawan Tests: Matches - 34 Runs - 2315 Avg - 40.61 Centuries - 7 ODIs: Matches - 149 Runs - 6284 Avg - 45.53 Centuries - 17

Chakdephatte Posted April 25, 2022 Posted April 25, 2022 Not ideal to compare among formats. You should change it to ODIs only. Austin 3:!6 1
Majestic Posted April 25, 2022 Posted April 25, 2022 (edited) Tests: Ganguly - 7 Dhawan - 6 Yuvraj - 5.5 Odis: Ganguly - 8 Dhawan - 8( only 6k runs aggregate compared to other two but won us 2013 CT) Yuvraj - 8.5( destructive in final 15 overs and won us 2011 WC) T20s: Yuvraj Dhawan Ganguly( too late for it) Edited April 25, 2022 by Majestic Austin 3:!6 1
Lord Posted April 25, 2022 Posted April 25, 2022 if I had to pick one for all formats, would be Ganguly will bat him at 7 in T20 Austin 3:!6 1

In odi ganguly was better than both.ganguly was top 3 best odi batsman from 1996 to 2000. Yuvraj was impact player but inconsistent & dhwan is low version of ganguly. Austin 3:!6, SandeepMotta and rollingstoned 2 1
Norman Posted April 25, 2022 Posted April 25, 2022 Ganguly. Thigh slapper shouldn't even be in the discussion. Better comparison would have been Gautam Gambhir? SandeepMotta and Austin 3:!6 1 1

Adamant Posted April 25, 2022 Posted April 25, 2022 Ganguly in tests. Dhawan in odis Yuvraj t20s Overall Ganguly. Austin 3:!6 1
jusarrived Posted April 25, 2022 Posted April 25, 2022 You walks into all time Indian 11 for T20s and ODI . Other two are no where close. Tests, all of them are pretty average
Majestic Posted April 25, 2022 Posted April 25, 2022 If you add Gambhir, Tests - Ganguly - 7 Gambhir - 6.5 Dhawan/Yuvraj - Fail ODIs - Yuvraj - 8.5( Rohit - 9, MSD - 9, SRT/Kohli - 9.5) Ganguly - 8 Dhawan - 8 Gambhir - 7.5( least runs among all but a special knock in finals) T20Is : Yuvraj- 8.5 Gambhir- 7.5 Dhawan- 7 Ganguly - Fail( can't fault him though) Austin 3:!6 1
DarkProfile Posted April 25, 2022 Posted April 25, 2022 Ganguly's grit, Yuvraj's elegant strokeplay and Dhawan's ability to perform at the big stage??? We have Angaara of batting! Austin 3:!6 and nevada 1 1
Ankit_sharma03 Posted April 25, 2022 Posted April 25, 2022 Dnt think its right to put yuvi in this category ODI - Gambo vs Dhawan vs Ganguly (right comparison coz yuvi was a middle order) Test- Ganguly vs Yuvi (dhawan is an opener) Neways in ODI - Ill take both yuvi and dhawan over ganguly (ganguly wudnt even make it to my 2nd ATG indian ODI XI) In Test - ganguly Austin 3:!6 1
dilliboy Posted April 26, 2022 Posted April 26, 2022 Dhawan in ODIs, Ganguly in Tests, and Yuvi in T20s if talking about pure batting ability. Though I will put Yuvraj ahead of both in white ball cricket for his all round skills Adamant and Austin 3:!6 2

Yuvraj came down the order. Stats can be misleading. For the position Yuvi used to play at, his stats are legendary. He played multiple impact knocks which neither Ganguly or Dhawan ever did. There is no comparison. Yuvraj was an almost all time great when it comes to batting in ODI. Mariyam 1
cricketfan28 Posted April 26, 2022 Posted April 26, 2022 Dhawan for me, played well in ICC tournaments and ipl as well.
maniac Posted April 26, 2022 Posted April 26, 2022 Yuvraj as the impact player. Dada for leadership and taking in tough battles Dhawan. unfair to compare the 3 but since that is the option those are my rankings DarkProfile 1
Suhaan Posted April 27, 2022 Posted April 27, 2022 Dhawan is a good odi batsman But Ganguly as a package was better than him Yuvraj being man if the series of India's last major odi triump and the impact he had in our inaugural wt20 win ,mkes him level above the two, plus like Ganguly can give you handful of overs So both of them for me over Dhawan
