zen Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 Extremely pleased to say this as the quality among the top 20-25 T20 players is close, allowing Ind to field a competitive combination. An easy job for selectors, who now need to focus more on form and suitability per conditions. rollingstoned, AuxiliA, Norman and 1 other 4
Frustrated Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 T20 format is such that it does not differentiate too much between the main team and b team. It's like that for most teams. Not just India. It's the ODIs and tests where the difference is more pronounced. (For all teams) express bowling and sandeep 1 1

No team has 30-35 international class T20 players like we do. Not even close. Distant second are England ,who have good depth in batting but bowling reserves are piss poor. Norman Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 IPL may not have given us any world beating cricketers but what it has definitely done is give us a large pool of decent to good T20 cricketers who can compete against any any side in the world. Vk1 and Ankit_sharma03 2
Ankit_sharma03 Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 (edited) We do many options for almost all spots now in LOI , if we make 3-4 sides from indian players and have an inter competition on good pitches it will be far more competitive then most games against many international sides Edited August 6, 2022 by Ankit_sharma03 Lord 1
Jay Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 Yet we pick washed up players like kphli. Frauds like chahal etc.
Cheetah Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 Whats the use of this so called "bench strength" when you have 0 ICC trophies to show in the last 10 years lmao
Chakdephatte Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 Remember people complaining - Why so many captains, Why Bumrah resting, Why Kohli resting, etc. Hope all these talks are over now.
Chakdephatte Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 We had the same bench two years ago but Kohli and his sycophants never gave anyone any chance. They used to play the same team every series, stack up centuries and claim a series win. And when someone questions his captaincy, his fans would show up series wins as an achievement. nevada 1

They got exposed every time someone gets injured. Dhawan was out from 2019, a middle order Pant was called up. Middle order Shankar got injured, an opener Agarwal with zero experience was called up. 12 minutes ago, Cheetah said: Whats the use of this so called "bench strength" when you have 0 ICC trophies to show in the last 10 years lmao We never tried our bench strength for eight years. It was mostly due to oldies (Yuvraj 2013, Dhoni 2019).

Adamant Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 There's a big problem here. Having 3 4 options for one spot hardly corresponds to having a great team/great squad. We have quantity but no quality. We can't play 3-4 options all in one spot, right? the competition is with the guy of the opposition who will bat at that spot, that's where we lose. Quality over quantity any day of the week. I need to bump that india vs aussies of 2000s thread again, to give posters a reality check here. The last time our so called youngsters visited Lanka they got their ass handed by a C Lankan team

Depends on what you consider international class. Arshdeep was not considered international class earlier, now he is. Having a few international matches under their belt makes a huge difference. All are capable, they need time, 30 is just a conservative number.
Need4Speed Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 This is phase 1…Phase 2 should bring more quality in addition to quantity.. As internal competition gets heated up..scouting..facilities..exposure….successstories..should keep on increasing..quality and quantity may keep increasing further.. Chakdephatte 1

In Srilanka they won ODI series and lost T20 only because 9 players were out due to Covid and the likes of BK was batting at 6 in T20 for us. They didn't even have an XI to field and had to play Navdeep Saini who was unfit to bowl. He batted at 7. Edited August 7, 2022 by rkt.india

Stop with the Delusion 30 players have played T20 cricket for India in the last 6 months and india have all those series'. It may hurt you for one reason or other but it's just plain facts. Just for comparison, if we take away Rizwan and Shaheen, Pakistan will lose to Bangladesh and sri Lanka more often than not.

We lost in Sri Lanka because we played just 4 batters and zero all rounders in 2 out of the 3 games. Bhuvi kumar was batting at 6. How desperate are you actually to judge fringe players based on that series.. express bowling 1
Majestic Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 Agreed. To those interested on 30 names, here we go :- Openers(7) - Rohit, Rahul, Dhawan, Kishan, Ruturaj, Gill, Shaw Middle order (10)- Kohli, Pant, SKY, Iyer, Samson, Pandya, Jadeja, Axar, Washington, D Hooda Spinners(4) - Yuzi, Kuldeep, Ashwin, Bishnoi Fast bowlers(8) - Bumrah, Bhuvi, Harshal, Arshdeep, Siraj, D Chahar, Shami, Prasidh That's 29 then you have the likes of Mayank, Sarfaraz, Rahul Chahar, Tewatiya, Avesh, Umran Malik, Natrajan etc who can make a difference too in certain conditions. Norman and Chakdephatte 2
express bowling Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 We have a lot of good and good-medium players in T20s. More than any other team. But lack a few great players for this format. We also lack a team based modern approach where the Team is more important than Superstars. Which is why we have not won any T20 World Cup after the inaugural one. Mosher and Norman 2

Additionally..I felt they didnt lose to team SrinLanka but mostly due to inexperience against Hasaranga..who is one of premier bowler currently
