Next few games Bhuvi should try to get wickets upfront rather than bowling his over cheaply at front.

He was defensive against Rizwan and Shan didn't make them play at all.

In T20s batting line ups more often than not will reach par score unless they lose all batsmen before 16th over.

I've said it before the Bumrah will not be as big a miss as we made it to be. Yes, he is a world class bowler but in his current form he has been clearly struggling to get us those early breakthroughs.

Bumrah will be missed in the death overs.

Arshdeep and Shami moving the ball upfront ....  Bumrah, Hardik and Shami hitting thd deck hard in the middle ... Bumrah, Arshdeep and Shami as backup trying quick yorkers at the end.

This would have been ideal.

Bowling has been good, overall.   Death bowling (particularly 19th and 20th over) remains a concern though.   Whoever bowls the 19th over keeps conceding 12+ runs even if he is bowling to tailenders.

Shaheen was smashing arshdeep for fun last night.

RP was massively talented.  Pace, height, bounce, swing, accuracy, game sense ... he had it all.

Both RP and Munaf should had have much more successful careers if they had focused more on fitness and worked harder.

Feel sad for this duo.

Sreesanth as well, insanely talented. Those 2 clean bowleds of Hayden and Gilly in 2007 SF!!!! Best seam position by an Indian quick IMO.

Nehra, Agarkar, Irfan.....we had all the tools to create good pace units even in 2000s but the mindset wasn't there at that time. Even Zak needed a county stint to unlock his potential. We could have created a fast bowling legacy 8-10 years before we did.

Bowling nearly cost us the game.. 160 on this pitch in a Indo-Pak game was almost match winning.  Fielding was below average.

Thanks to Individual brilliance of Kohli we managed this win.

Spinners huge concern.

eh? Any chasing team will readily take 160.

It should have been chased down easily.

Don't think we missed Bumrah :phehe:, Arshdeep did what Bumrah has never been able to do his entire career, stand up in a big match and take out opponent's top dogs first up.

Don't care about talent, ability, X factor, bahut dekh liya whether it be Bumrah or KL, what use of all this talent if one can't get the job done in the big stage. Will happily take these low profile less talented players who raise their games in big games like how Arshdeep did yesterday. Or how Irfan, RP, Gambo etc. did in the past.

yep Arshdeep made Bhuvi look good too. Otherwise teams play out Bumrah and Bhuvi and then bash others.

I mentioned after the finalized squad was announced India's best chance is conditions offering swing. It happened. Boom. We were unplayable. We proved that twice in recent times. We reduced SA to 8/5 in no time.

Arshdeep prime destroyer both games.

And people say he can't swing the ball :phehe:

Those days wide yorker concept was not there. Even if you get hit you still try to attack the stumps. Remember Sohail Tanvir nailing 2 surprise sixes in the final over of Sreesanth. I thought match was gone. Last delivery came back and delivered crocker of a yorker Stump flattened.

Yes that opinion was a result of how PKXI used him. They primarily used him as a death bowler which led to a belief that he was not a new ball specialist. Truth is nobody knew what he was capable of as he hardly bowled inside powerplay

Think Brett lee started this wide yorker tactic in 2009-10.

yea. if we use strategically it can be useful like how Malinga employed against INdia in the WT20 final. Thala couldn't touch anything. But you have to be extremely accurate.

Both him and Kulasekara in that final. But before that damage had been done by that chucker Senanayake. Horrible memories.

Our team is still pathetic. We won due to individual brilliance yesterday.

Axar patel was batting at no.5 at the MCG. Let that sink in.

Pinch hitter :dontknow:

Srinath used to bat at 3 in the 90s IIRC :giggle:

Spinners huge concern.

We will have to go back to Chahal over Ashwin or Axar. That makes the batting look thinner. Might as well do Chahal plus Hooda and keep both Ashwin and Axar out.

Hooda can give 1 or 2 overs if needed.

Hooda is barely a batsman let alone a 5th bowler.

Ashwin is fine.

He did it in 1 or 2 matches only. Lack of LHBs was the reason to send Axar up. Hope we get through with some individual brilliances like Kohli, Pandya and Arshadeep

And continue with Axar without Chahal?

yes unless opposition struggles v leggies bigtime.

Chahal has also been struggling lately. Axar atleast can bat at 8 and fields better
