WT20 Indian team Minnow bashing watch.

So far weaker teams have stepped up and don’t think it’s going to be a cakewalk for anyone but given we have 3 weaker team games even though Bangla have given us some close moments in T20 a thread to see how we do against them.

 

Platinum league minnow bashers

Let’s see how they do. We can’t count out these performances in this tournament but will we bash them or perish will be interesting. I am expecting a traditional demolition job.

Don't under-estimate Irish bowling. The way they bowled to England and West Indies were probing.  SOmetimes they were unlucky due to catch drop or missing the stumps after edging. When i saw Hooda ripping the attack to shreds i thought they were uber mediocre. Turns out that was a very good bowling attack.

Below are the fixtures for quick reference:

 

10/27 v NED at SCG,  3 AM EST

11/02 v BD at Adelaide,  4 AM EST

11/06 v ZIM at MCG, 4 AM EST 

 

On paper, it would be a one-sided contest. However, I would not count out an upset (or two):

 

NED (Do the basics well) 

• Batsmen are used to playing India type of swing bowlers (Many play county cricket too) 
• Bowlers like Paul van Meekeren are quick 
• Fielding is better than Ind's 

At SCG, we saw how NZ attacked AUS bowlers so if someone like O'Dowd gets stuck in, he can take the game away in no time 

 

 

BD (Traditionally give Ind points. Like Pak, they do compete but something happens like a decision not going their way, becoming overconfident to play loose cricket at key moments, etc.) 

• Batsmen are used to the conditions by now, also have played cricket in NZ
• Bowlers are similar to Ind's so Ind batsmen would be used to batting against such. It would depend upon which bowler is having a good day  
• Poor fielding side

The best chance for BD is if chasing with India bowling poorly where BD batsmen take advantage of the side boundaries at Adelaide 

 

 

ZIM (India played the team recently in ODIs) 

• Batsmen like Raza if they have a great day 
• Bowlers can be a handful at MCG depending on conditions
• Fielding  is similar to Ind's 

ZIM would depend more on its impact players to create an upset

I want India to obliterate these minnows, get your form up and take pride in minnow bashing.

 

In the long run it may work India's favour in terms of form in Semi Final & hopefully Final also.

Take the minnows seriously and try to challenge yourself as a team:

 

Stat pad without any shame in this instance, improve run rate substantially.

 

If batting first:

 

Surpass the highest t20 score of 278

 

If bowling fist:

 

Bowl team out for less than 21 (quite difficult)

Unlike England t20 team, Indian team actually has sensible players.

Rohit and Kela are definitely minnow bashers, Sky will also do well. 

Not sure if these sides are challenging enough for Kohli, should give him a rest actually. 

Let the IPL sooperstars play these games, as these games are right up their alley.

In big tournaments minnow bashing isn't a bad thing. The game has its own pressure and significance unless its a dead rubber.
