Spinners won't have much role to play as it's Perth......QDK, Roussow, Miller means less chance for Axar to come into the picture. Thakur can give same returns with the bat + brings the wicket taking factor.
Pandya, Thakur, Ashwin, Bhuvi, Arshdeep, Shami (5 pacers + 1 Spinner).

Thakur is in reserve no way he is playing..  Rohit will play same XI.

I m somehow getting a feeling KL might try to play more freely and can go on hitting SA bowlers very well..he has the class its just that he need to free himself from metal weakness and shackles he has created upon himself..

Perth , SCG and Adelaide all have a bat first bias, albeit not as big as the chasing bias in Dubai. 

 

Can we get 3rd time lucky with the toss? There is usually a bit more swing in the 2nd innings and would favour our swing bowlers

I think pant for KL (won't happen) but I see harshal patel coming in for axar Patel..would have preferred thakur.to get a leftie in I think they might bring pant for dk..which I dnt think is a good idea.

thakur cant play as harshal is in 15 not thakur.

 

but yes i agree in perth we should play 1 spinner and 4 pacers + hardik so if required Spinner is required to bowl only 1 over .

India has this stupid mentality of sticking with a winning combination generally speaking. Its always been reluctant to make aggressive positive changes to a team.

 

I also think its intrinsically linked to the culture of Indians where they are way too superstitious and dont like to change things when things are working.

 

If you want an easy example, just look at the paranoia of who starts a thread on ICF for game day, its always those that are asked to start one when India won when they started that thread.

Im very confident that the starting time is linked to the best time to show cricket in India and play in Australia.

 

A day game in Australia would mean the game would be shown live around 9am in India.

The madness that is Indian Cricket.

Everyone on here wants Thakur in the team, but instead India has to play Harshal Trundler Patel, as Thakur is not even in the squad. How did this stupid decision happen in the first place. Its as stupid as Shami not even being in the squad a month ago.

 

In a perfect world, this is my perfect team given the players available. (assuming Harshal gets injured lol)

Kohli

SKY

Pandya

DK

Thakur

Ashwin/Axar/Chahal

Shami

Boobi

What I love best about the batting is that aside from DK, all these guys have got runs in Australia. Thakur.Ash/Shami have enough ability to chase a few runs if required. Thakur and Shami can also hit big for a few deliveries if required.

 

6 bowlers needed. Lets not forget our bowlers have the potential to not only leak but flood. It offers Hitman some choices to protect him in case some bowler goes big.

 

I would bring in Pant for KL and have him open with Hitman and  I would keep DK in the middle order he at least provides optimism that we can chase a total down or set a total up .

 

A R/L opening batting and places pressure on the bowler to maintain line and length. Not to mention both these guys love to go aerial. Pant has runs all over f**king Australia. Play the guy you f**king morons.

 

KL is the quintessential example of a walking wicket. Absolutely places direct pressure on Hitman and Kohli as well by absolutely murdering the RR. We also have Hitman and Kohli that can be anchors. We dont need anymore anchors.

 

Lord is crafty bowler and can hold a bat, he is no Pandya with the bat but he is the best we have in Australia. Has done well in Australia.

 

I would pick the best spinner of Ashwin,Axar and Chahal. Generally speaking none of these guys will win us a game with the bat, Ashwin has done well so far so I would stick with him. Which is ironic as thats what Ashwin did and did well vs Pakistan. Those two balls he played showed more intent than KL has done in two innings in this WC.

 

@express bowling can you let me know your thoughts on my best team that could play for India. (assuming Thakur replaces someone with injury of course).

Guys please tell me what you think here, I really respect and enjoy your posts and thoughts. Ive given up on Cricbuzz for info because its just too biased and makes out that India is a perfect team and constantly wins world tournaments.

While this team may not obviously play on Sunday (as no Thakur), Im thinking ahead for SEMI Finals.

Day game is not good for India in Perth.

 

In Western Australia there is the "Fremantle Doctor" an Aussie term, meaning there is cold winds that hit the ground during the day, making it even colder.

One of the biggest problems with this current team and all our players generally, is that we have too many batsmen that cannot bowl an over or two.

 

Hitman, Kohli, KL, SKY, Pant, DK.

 

What really needs to happen is that at the grass roots, all batsmen need to at least develop an ability to bowl just one or two overs.

 

10 years ago, we had SRT, Ganguly, Sehwag and Yuvraj that could all bowl.

 

At least some of our bowlers can be competent with the bat. The way Ashwin batted for two balls vs Pakistan is what ideally I would love our batsmen could be with the ball and bowl and over competently.

Pant to open in place of KL, drop DK, slot in KL at #5 or #6. Rest of team unchanged, RSA has a couple of dangerous RHBs as well, so why this Axar-LHB logic? Also we need couple of southpaws to target the dangerous Maharaj.
