This time, we only had Kohli. Are Punjabis the good luck charms of the Indian team? Kindly discuss. Not just good luck charm, they are jigar wale fighters who take the attack to the opposition. Gambho, Yuvi and Bhajji were jazba junooni players. Even baby Kohli played a nice helping hand under the guidance of the fiesty Gambhir in his first ever WC final. The way a pissed off Yuvi massacred Barbie Broad is the stuff of legends. Kapil Dev was pissed off with his team mates and caned the hapless Zimbabweans in anger all day. Balwinder Sandhu bowled a magical ball to take out Greenidge. Madan Lal demanded one more over and took the crucial wicket of Richards despite getting hammered by him. You need such heroic performances to stir up the players and make them believe that destiny is on their side for winning the tournament. Edited November 12, 2022 by nevada Lone Wolf and Vijy 2

In short phainta lagane wale players SreeSanth a South Indian played with Jazba Junoon as well. cricketfan28 1

Was Indira Gandhi's husband really Parsi? Did Rahul ever attend any prayers at a Parsi temple? He has played the role of devout Hindu time to time but haven't seen him publicly worship elsewhere.
RajBan Posted November 12, 2022 Posted November 12, 2022 Diler, Josh, junoon and jazba. Where do we hear that a lot. Oh, I remember, Padosis are also very vocal about it. This thread should have been opened in PP.
R!TTER Posted November 12, 2022 Posted November 12, 2022 There's probably 1000 such threads already there, don't worry they'll open a 100 more after Sunday.

We were saved from embarrassment against Paxtan by a washed up Punjabi batsman.

So that kind of evens it out ..no? It won't leave good taste if rest of India start taking Santa Banta jokes literally. Punjabis who are talented and industrious will make a name for them on merit and don't need these manohar kathayein or quota system. So let's cut these generalizations and treat each individual based on what he is worth. Our very fundamental problem has been that our decisions on cricket team have been driven on perceptions by a strong nexus who has self interest to protect rather than on facts, data, performance and context.
jalebi_bhai Posted November 12, 2022 Author Posted November 12, 2022 Guys, I have made appropriate amendments to my hypothesis in the OP. Crux of the argument remains the same.

No one is asking for a quota system. This thread is more of an acknowledgement of the fact that some of our most clutch cricketers have some Punjabi connection. Even in this WC, Kohli and Arshdeep were two of our best performers. The thread was made in a light-hearted vein, not meant to be prescriptive in any which way. nevada and Lord 2

Problem is when few individuals start believing the fun itself.
