We don't need to sledge Sri Lankans, our body language is enough, says Hardik Pandya

Aren't you a Sachin bhakt?

I'm nobody's "bhakt" - that **** is for schoolboys.  And yes when I was a schoolboy, I was indeed a starry eyed 'bhakt'.  And I remain appreciative of Tendulkar's fulfilment of the promise as a child prodigy - Tendy and Federer are rarities - overwhelming majority of child prodigies flame out early, very rare ones go on to succeed.  And I am well aware of the chinks and shortcomings that Tendulkar had - I do not gloss over them or pretend they are non-existant, as a so-called 'bhakt' would.

Although I don't over exaggerate them as a "hater" would either.  And I remember quite well which side of that spectrum you prefer to reside on....

Ok, so you were a bhakt but don't have issues in calling others "fanboys" or "haters" w/o knowing if they are and if they are to what degree.

What exactly is your complaint?  Does it bother you that much that some other person disapproves of your constant hagiographic "Sir Don" this and that? Are you this thin-skinned?

Most rational, mature folks aren't that worked up over disagreement in discussion.  Disagreement is natural - we are not clones.  Sometimes you can use disagreement to correct your perspective.  I do it - many times.

Or, you can choose to get testy, and miss the forest for the trees.  Your choice.

Surprised to be dragged into a conversation for no reason and when every player has fans. And there are nicknames such as king, hitman, boom boom, ..., ..., ...

PS And you use words such as  - "A lot remains to be seen with Pandu's captaincy - tactics, selection, on-field resource use, grooming newer players, identifying roles, risks, a whole lot of question marks."

Sports is followed for fun!

There are posters here who have been writing against Sir Don since his debut. They used to do that even during IPL.

Like bad gamblers (which most ordinary folks are), these guys don't realize that the tides turned a long time ago (and they keep on betting against the run of play)

Failing upwards is nothing new in ICT. Another Bradman clone kl rahul has captained 3 test matches now. As long as the fan girls are happy with their body language, performances don't matter

He said in the post match presentation it was to put the team under pressure and see how they react. Perhaps Axar now is more confident and better off for it. If so I can get behind that. WE complain that team puts too much of an emphasis on not losing bilaterals, this is a departure from that.

I hope the oldies don't come back to undo whatever good work is done with the present set of players.

His workload few years b ack is 5% of Pat cummins. Still he keeps missing. Can't complete his quota. Now he exclusively plays T20. So his frequent unavailability must be questioned. It is the shorted format and if you keep missing, if you opt not to bowl on and off then that is not right. He has to be able to bowl 4 overs consisetntly availbale for every series as this is the only format he plays.

This.  He actually chickened out with the hint of pressure it might be due to stiff back, as he was holding his back after bowling 3 overs. So the question is how come he was made captain if he can't bowl 4 overs in T20 game, also you don't know when he will get injured and start doing pick and play series like Rohit Sharma, and  few here are dreaming to make him full time captain.

How am I biased?  What does it mean he bowled upfront. Did he have over left or not. Was he injured??? How long has he has been playing cricket and shouldn't he be well hyderated?

I will take him Pandya bowling last over Axar bowling last over any day even if he has to roll his arm. He was facing number 10 and 11.

I don't have anything against Pandya. I just don't think he is good enough to be captain of India in any format.I just don't think making a players like him or Rahul captain of Indian team is right thing to do.

I think dandiya was a buc buc buc chikeeenn... in the last over.

Dandiya is a wannabe. Not suitable for captaining Indian team. KLR is a scarredly cat again very beta so can follow not lead.

on one side we have irrational baseless 'hate' of a player out of perhaps a desire to stick to an older evaluation, a stubborn clinging to "I was right, and I am right so what if the facts don't agree" sort of thing - on another we have nakedly vulgar fanboi-ism of the "Sir Don" kind.

If I want to talk about the sport and the team I enjoy following, with rational folks who are like-minded - not necessarily similar opinions, but just in terms of rationality and interests - and I struggle to do that on a forum calling itself 'Indiancricketfans', that says a lot.

I think you got it all wrong. When I criticise Pandya, it has got nothing to do with him as a person. I always defended Pandya in terms of his injuries and his fitness. But how can anyone say he has done anything of note in Indian colors. His last two t20 world cups where he was supposed to be at his peak given his age was nothing to write home about .Pandya is never going to become better in future. He has already hit his high ceiling and he now instead becoming a finisher has turned into accumulator.

He needs to realize if he cannot bowl his 4 overs every match, he does not bring value to the team. His batting is/was just never good enough to command a place in the team.

Noway in hell he should have been made captain.
