what are you smoking?

I love Siraj and have been backing him since 2017, but he does not have the ability to move the ball both ways without any 'tell' for batsmen, the way bhuvi does.  Siraj is special in his own way, and after Bumrah, that rare commodity in India - a lead dog pacer with a nose for wickets and attacking the stumps - something that Bhuvi even at his peak didn't have.

But claiming that Siraj is "Bhuvi with more pace", is just all kinds of ignorant.

if anything Siraj has the 'wobble' delivery which moves either way after pitching

Bhuvi's swing is due to great seam position but batsmen can pick that.

Very few batsmen in cricket can pick Bhuvi's swing from the hand - Is it possible? Maybe, but most fail to do so.  That's what has made him so dangerous.  This special ability coupled with the 2-3 years in the 2017 timeframe where he worked hard and increased his pace to high 130s to occasional 140, made him a great bowler.  Problem is that he got to that stage too late in his career, and then injuries meant that he wasn't there for the England tour.  If Bumrah and Bhuvi had both played that full tour where Pandya picked up a test 5-fer, I bet you we would have won that test series.

It is what it is.  Time for Bhuvi to "take his talents" to T20 leagues.

with ball and bat), and his special bowling in reducing South Africa to 12/3 in the 1st test of a 3 test series in SA - a test match eventually lost due to a dropped slip catch and an iconic ABDV rearguard fightback -

He was dropped the next test btw and then recalled again in 3rd test where he was man of the match. In the wtc final if bhuvi would have played instead of ishant we would have won. Indian selectors are notorious for not selecting horses for courses. They are famous for choosing donkeys for horses..

Ideally we need to continue playing umran. Till now he has got one wicket per game just of his pace. NZ would have been a team which would have tested him.   On topic Between Shardul and Bhuvi I'll always pick bhuvi he is a better bowler and I don't see much upside in shardul with bat at 8. Deepak chahar might be worth considering as like bhuvi opens bowling

Deepak Chahar can't bowl in middle overs or at death and he lasts 2 game before heading back to NCA.

One thing which used to be in Bhuvi's favour was his new ball skills and his batting ability, due to which he used to leapfrog Shami in almost every big event.

However, even with his new ball abilities, he was simply not penetrative enough to pickup wickets. Siraj (and earlier Arshdeep in T20's) had shown how one can effectively use new ball skills to dent the opposition, Bhuvi could never do that (SR pof 41 in ODI's is pathetic for a bowler who regularly gets new ball).

Add to that his rapidly declining stocks with the bat, he simply don't offer anything to the team apart from his 4-5 over spell with the new ball. Even Shivam Mavi these days can contribute with bat and is an excellent fielder, but Bhuvi just falls too far behind in those 2 departments. So Bhuvi don't even deserve to be in the XI as a 3rd pacer as well.

However, that being said. All this won't matter to our selectors if he performs well in the IPL. Unless he has a really bad season with SRH, I see him making him in the future squads as one of the pacers considering how much our selectors and TM adore experience.

Actually ball swinging just in the air doesn't trouble good batsmen. Air swing can be picked up right from the time it leaves bowlers hands. Unless it is very late and a decent pace (like Shaheen Afridi first 2 overs) it is quite ineffective.

Batsmen are troubled by seam movement, even the best of them find it difficult.

Prime bhuvi in tests for sen conditions was a monster. Indian philander. Bhuvi actually did really well in bgt 2017 too. We dropped so many catches.

He hasn't been a big new ball bowler since at least 2017-18 if not longer! In fact we were easily the worst new ball team in 2019 WC, that too in England & Bhukhe was one of the major culprits alongside Bumrah as well :whack2:

Actually he is still able to swing the new ball in favourable conditions (atleast in 2022 he was), problem is he doesn't attack on wickets, tries to stay on shorter side away from batters arc and relies more on batters chasing his deliveries and edging to the slips/keeper.
Good batters these days are fully aware of his strategy, hence they wait for ball to stop moving and the minute it does they just attack on Bhuvi and tear him into shreds.
Bhuvi is just a lamb waiting to be slaughtered once the ball looses it's shine, he can't bowl yorkers, has ineffective bouncer and 125-130 kph paced length bowls don't trouble quality batters.

Was he fit for that?

He won't last a test,no point playing him and others completing his quota Nor he's that devastating to decimate opposition with whatever little he bowls
