maniac Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 In recent times I have seen Pujara show a lot more intent. He is good against spin and likes the Aussie attack. The pitches will be low scoring and probably there will be some attacking cricket played, will this be a resurgence of Pujara as he enters the final phase of his career? or with Sarfaraz knocking on the door, Gill breaking down the doors of being a mainstay, the fetish to somehow accommodate Rahul, Iyer who is for now a guaranteed starter in tests at least in subcontinent and the temptation to take advantage of SKY’s red hot form , I think the rope will get shorter going forward. This series will be the make or break for Pujara? what do you think a new Pujara or the same old but effective or a potential last series if things go south? Lord 1
vvvslaxman Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 Pujara played his part against Australia in the last few years. But most recent Pujara has exposed his weakness against spin. Leach took him out several times. Then he looked clueless in the 2nd test against BD. That doesn't inspire any confidence. They wasted a lot of bouncers bowling at him. Here they will try full balls.

Good servant. Great player at his best but it's done.
Lord Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 On his last legs, more expendable than Rohit,Kohli even Rahul so has to keep performing which I don't think he can.
putrevus Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 (edited) I did not see any problem with his technique unlike Kohli.Nor he has any issues like Rahul. Pujara at home is still valuable asset . I would discard both Kohli and Rahul but keep Pujara for home series alone. Edited February 10, 2023 by putrevus
deepdynamo Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 He can play this series and maybe the final of WTC ( if we reach). But no further than that.
AuxiliA Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 Pujara is our only 'genuine' test player. While all the others will be busy playing the IPL, Pujara will be the only one playing county to prepare for the WTC F. Lord 1
Lord Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 always looks meek. Has lost that positivity he used to have maniac and SRT100 1 1

One time CSK picked him and he choose it over county before WTC final. Not a negative comment but IPL shouldn't ne brought in every random discussion. Lord 1
Moochad Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 Looks like he's done. I think he will be dropped after the WTC if we make it
speedracer Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 It's the end of a beginning which was supposed to end 2 years back.
wanted_desi Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 Are we keeping him so he can make those 25 (90) runs in WTC or overseas? SRT100 1
Texan Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 Pujara 2.0 is like that upgrade of iOS on a very old iPhone that then becomes even more slow, unresponsive and almost unusable. You start wishing you hadn't upgraded at all. nevada, SRT100, Gambit and 3 others 6

We need players like him. He is the wall. That's what we hear from eggsperts raki05, cricspirit, vvvslaxman and 1 other 4
Texan Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 Hope Venky now takes up Pujara's case. One win in one attempt for Venky already. If he can get Pujara and Kohli kicked out, then it would be Venky's second biggest contribution to Indian cricket (after that Aamer Sohail wicket). raki05 1
