Which are some of your innings you look back on fondly?

Without ranking, among my top innings would be the 72 on Test debut. Then my first hundred in South Africa, 153, in 2013.

 

 

n 2010, my first overseas series, I had a tough time. I batted at No. 5 or 6. Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel were at their peak. I still remember, I spoke to Rahul bhai [Dravid] that I am finding it difficult because I have always played on Indian pitches where the bounce is low and the pace is slow. And in South Africa I am finding it difficult to get acclimatised and it is like facing a different challenge altogether. He gave some good advice. I worked on it. I ensured that whenever I came to South Africa next, I would do well, I wanted to be successful against those bowlers. That happened in 2013 in Jo'burg.

 

 

In 2017 against Australia in Bangalore is another innings I will remember. I have said many times that sometimes your fifties are more valuable than some of your hundreds. And that was one of those knocks which decided not just that Test match but the entire Test series. If we had lost that match, the series was on the line, so it was a series-defining knock for me personally and for the team.

 

 

The 123 in Adelaide in 2018 - first innings of an important series. Again, I had done my homework and it paid off and I was really pleased with that.

 

 

Last one is the fifty at the Gabba in the 2020-21 series where I got hit so many times on my body and I had to work my way out. I felt it was an important innings from the team's perspective.

In that case Gujarat CM can do the felicitation. Indian PM is too big for that I guess. It looks like the Indian PM still favors Gujjus more than others. Not a good sign .

Legendary performance. I guarantee no one else would have been able to survive those blows. Imagine a weak Pakistani or a weak pommy trying to take those shots to the body. Kiwis would fold too.

He was elite vs Aussies. Not sure how to rate him tbh. Oz side >>> all those other teams but that's some glaring holes in swing friendly conditions.

Great batsman at home and against Aus. For some reason Australia brings out the best in so many of our batsmen, Tendulkar, Kohli, Laxman, Pujara, Pant

Congrats legend. Modern day great, one of the key reasons behind our rise to (and long stay at) number 1 ranking, home dominance, series wins in Australia.

 

May not have as many 100s/runs as Kohli but his impact and clutchness more than makes up for it. IMO the best test batter from India post 2010.

 

My favorite innings of his is that 90 odd in 2017 Bengaluru, we were so close to going down 0-2 but that partnership between Che and Jinx was spectacular, especially the way they handled peak Lyon. One of the most heart-stopping passages of play I have seen in this sport.. Again not a 100, but consider the match situation, bowling attack, momentum, stakes, pressure that 90 was worth a lot more. Till circa 2018 he was so so good against spin, hope to see that magic once more this series.

What's wrong in PM meeting a sportsman on the eve of such a big occasion? Next test starts in couple of days time in Delhi, PM sits in Delhi, maybe in Kohli's case his 100th test was in some other city.

 

Have seen Modi host plenty of sportspersons, including unheralded ones from far flung states. Recently he hosted some deaflympics athletes at his residence, then some rowers from MP. Good gestures.

Yes, absolutely good till that time but not anymore now

He looks better than boollywood koohli and kela though,all of them are ripe enough to be dropped now,may this becomes his swansong

Test match is in Delhi, he is in Delhi, PM office is in Delhi so the meeting might have taken place. Nothing to look much into it. People needlessly bringing Gujju connection and all here..
