Austin 3:!6
Both the rivalries have political connection in some form or other but India vs Pakistan is a much younger rivalry compared to the Ashes which has 140 year old history. India vs Pakistan is hyped up as 'mother of all battles' where as the Ashes brings both England & Australia in a standstill. Which is the better rivalry according to you and why? Link to comment
Chakdephatte
Ashes is one of the highest quality cricket. Pakistan vs. India was always about emotions. For moat part, we were not among the top sides. When Pakistan was good, India was a poor side, later the roles reversed. MechEng and Austin 3:!6 1 1 Link to comment

England was significantly weaker for long time compared to Australia. Rightarmfast and Chakdephatte 2 Link to comment
goose
If India and Pak played as often as Eng and Aus I reckon the former would lose its appeal. Sgattick10 and Austin 3:!6 2 Link to comment
Sandeep99
India - Pakistan is all about the emotions, religion and one-upmanship. The quality of cricket was never really high. Ashes is about a fierce rivalry on the field and it ends there. The cricket is also intense and attracts viewers across the entire world. Austin 3:!6 1 Link to comment

It was not always the pinnacle of cricket but England was always good side at home even in their bad days. Edited June 16, 2023 by Chakdephatte Link to comment
zen
The Ashes, which many consider the unofficial test championship. The quality of cricket is generally solid too. Ind v Pak has its moments but it has lost some of its steam. There is a lot of "junk" that gets tagged along with cricket too. Link to comment
Gambit
Ashes is high quality? For a period from 1989-2005, it was one-sided. Since 2005, England have been whitewashed twice in Australia and one result was 4-0. There have been 2-3 very good series (1 GOAT even) but it has never been consistently high quality. sage
Ashes is more good natured. Rivalry amongst friend. Ind v Pak obviously more heated Link to comment
vvvslaxman
India vs Pakistan rivalry still survives due to politics. Gulf widened over a period. Also controversies between players reduced drastically after Kohli. No in your face aggression. Only reason it has some value because of bragging rights for fans. Otherwise at player level intensity has g one down. Not the days of Miandad. Link to comment
Lord
India v Pak Ashes is just a sporting rivalry. Austin 3:!6 1 Link to comment

We could have whitewashed them in a 5 match series. Current team i don't trust them. These guys don't even do FTB stuff. Austin 3:!6 1 Link to comment
Vijy
the best sporting rivalry for quite a while in tests was SA vs Aus and Ind vs Aus. Now, both these rivalries are going/gone Link to comment
khadekhademaaro
The Ashes in England is the most competitive test cricket I have seen. Ashes in Aus not so much. Ind v Pak is way below. SA v Aus or Ind v Aus is higher in the list Sgattick10 and Vijy 2 Link to comment
Nikhil_cric
In Tests, India-PAK doesn't compare to the Ashes. Link to comment

Norman
Lol is this a joke? Australians don't hate the English and vice versa. They don't wish for the complete destruction of each other. They're not an existential threat to each other. On the other hand...... MechEng 1 Link to comment
SRT100
Seeing India play Pakistan in Australia was on another level last year. Absolutely incredible. While Ashes has tradition, India vs Pakistan stops literally millions of sub continental people worldwide. Indian and Pakistan players from what I understand actually get along with each other and are friendly, despite the ever looming war. Australia and England have a general hatred of each other.
