Why does the Indian team lineup seem unsettled every WC cycle?

Last few WCs every time we go in with an unsettled lineup where we are still experimenting in the matches right before the tournament and still don't have our playing XI or batting order sorted. It feels like there is never a plan or strategy. Years in between WCs go wasted with nothing to show for it in terms of building a settled XI.

Because our TM lacks the courage to breed in youngsters in the team, we have already missed the boat to bring Jaiswal, Gaikwad, and many other performing youngsters for the WC. Instead we persisted with KL Rahul for a long time, we carried under performing Kohli like a passenger, Rohit Sharma has been poor with both captaincy and form. we are scared to bring fast bowlers in the team, instead we are giving chances to players like Unadkat.

And here we are staring at WC at home without a settled team and a plan to execute the win.

ODIs seem to never get priority in last few years, other than WC there is no relevance for ODIs. That is probably one of the reason and also pretty much the T20 stars are getting played ODIs too an it does not always work as in the case of SKY or Pant (previously).

One more thread talking about players who are not in the team becoming Bradmans and Marshalls.

Last year it was Gill and Shaw who were the talking points now it is Jaiswal who is just 21 but he should have played for two years already according to many experts.

Rituraj is now the flavour of the month.

Iyer got injured and SKY,  is not upto the mark, how is it selectors fault.

Because Indian team is like workforce between 65-75 years old, they can give all the gyyaan not the actual product.

We should be retiring anyone who is above 33 after every world cup.

Isn't Gill already performing in the ODIs and has scored a double recently?

What about players who were in the Squad? What's your opinion on the persistence with KL Rahul?

Because we have a poor team management.

They kept playing Dhawan because he is a friend. Same with KL. Both dont deserve to be there.

Gill just got his chances this year. Yashasvi Ruturaj Tilak Rinku should have been tried.

Team management wants to forcibly play players who can bowl, even if they don't fit in or are not good enough. That's the reason for the likes of Axar Thakur etc.

For some strange reason, TM wants to play only 5 batters and play both Jadeja and Hardik.

That is not wrong. We need atleast 6 bowling options.

Because they are bunch of losers playing with loser attitude of "always learning". This attitude never produce champions. It is attitude which develops complacency and never develop that kind of vision to achieve certain goal. Just playing it out and preaching things before wc, thats why they look unsettled. Because their eyes are not settled on one particular aim. They are headless chickens

Because everyone wants someone else to play. IPL has thrown too many options.

That's why need two separate teams for T20s and ODIs. There too many chop and changes due to those options. There is no continuity of players. You need a settled unit who are not playing for their spots.

This thread is not about what we want or whether X would have been better than existing player Y.

This thread is about us not having a settled 11 atleast 6 months before WCs and with adequate backups.

This is happening quite a few times in the last few years.

Pre- IPL - Only 1/2 players were changed at the 11th hour because of current form of a certain player or the combination of 11 depending upon certain playing conditions.

Post -IPL - Every place is contested, each ipl franchise wants their player in the side so every series we see some change no settled 15 players , PR and social media creating pressure on selectors.

selecting 18 for a series and trying same old failed players again and again.

Exactly, there's no stability. I may disagree with a player here or there selected by the selector but if I can at least see the structure and the idea of a plan existing then I can accept it. It seems uncertain and schizophrenic right now

It is typical of Indian culture, like going through the motions then suddenly a week before event start panicking like headless chicken.

No planning whatsoever, mediocrity at its peak.

An example of this is Ajinkya Rahane, was due to play county cricket but withdrew due to workload, what workload only plays 1 format and IPL. Another example scores a 50, becomes vice captain.

Also confused all the time, the issue is at number 4 & 5, why is the whole batting order being moved around.

Finally mentally very weak when it matters the most.
